Wifi Calling vs network extender?

Hello

It seems like Verizon isn't in any sort of hurry to introduce wifi calling. I have almost no signal indoors at my house and can barely place a call much less actually complete a call on the first attempt. I went through the tech supporting and troubleshooting etc and the rep suggested that I should buy a network extender that connects to the internet. So I was like "ok sure how expensive can that be?".. and that was shocking. Has anyone actually used the network extender or is currently using it? That's a really really expensive option for what seems like a gap in coverage. Are there any promotional deals on those things or do they ever go on sale? Thank you anyone

You can use Google Voice on WiFi via the Google Hangouts app - it's free.

I use this all the time for work, and for calling Canada for free as well.

Check eBay for used models . Make sure you get a model that will work with your model phone (iPhone 6 has been picky)

Until the FCC stops dragging its feet, Verizon can't offer wifi calling.

ATT applied before Verizon and is still pushing to get wifi calling, unsuccessfully, approved. Very frustrating when a carrier has a growin customer base, but less coverage.

I was told we had a great signal where we lived and was with tech support for 2 hours one night. They could not understand why there wasn`t a signal here at all. Duh, ride out here and see for yourself !!!Well guess what? I was stuck in my contract and they wouldn`t budge on getting out of it, even after I was told there was a great signal in this area. We can`t get a signal at all until we drive 10 minutes out of the area to get one.

I had no choice but to get an extender if we were going to have any kind of service at all, and was stuck getting one too !!!

They did sale me a refurbished one for 100 bucks, which was better then a ridiculous price for a new one !! Maybe you can get one of the refurbished ones !!

I have to say the extender did work great and helped tremendously but my internet service is sucky here and at night I have,what Verizon says now, is a packet loss from the internet service, and can barely talk on the phone at night. So seems I can`t win for losing sometimes !!

Complain daily if needed about poor coverage. The more you complain, the more likely you are to get an offer to get out of the contract.

UNfortunately, even in areas that have good coverage by Verizon, I know there are dead zones. In my town, they are dead for both Verizon and ATT, and may be for other carriers also.

You are describing my troubles exactly. I have to disable VoLTE and fallback to 3G when I am at home.
