I updated my Moto X OS last night. This morning, I now have added contacts that aren't mine. I have no idea who these people are. Does someone else have mine too????? This is crazy.
Could be your Gmail or other email app has synced the contact or address from any email ever sent. What service do you use to back up contacts? You can go to its fullpage desktop browser site and remove those unwanted entries, then resync and you should be back to only the contacts you want. You can also check your contacts screen on-phone to choose which contacts you want to display from any source like Google account, Verizon Cloud, Phone.
These are not contacts. It's several Utah numbers. I live in Michigan. So weird.
Could be from emails sent or received from email addresses out or Utah.
One of the contacts is listed as Mom. She's not my Mom... Lol! I don't think that would have come from an email contact.
Jnay1, I too would be just as puzzled by mysterious contacts springing up out of nowhere. Especially after an OS update too.
Snn5 brought up some great tips to help find the direct cause of these mysterious contacts.

They are on my cloud as well. I hope my contacts have not been shared with others as well.
I doubt that your contacts were shared. I believe it was just a sync issue from several sources, but you should be fine once you go and edit your contacts.
I'm still puzzled as to what the cause may be. I have no prior contact of any kind with any of these several people from the same area code in Utah.
