Unknown Named Contacts

I've had my phone for a couple months now (note 5), and had everything all set up. All of a sudden my contacts displayed unknown for half the names contact. For instance first name unknown last name renamed the same. It also linked other people's email addresses and other info to my contacts. How do I fix this?

You backup with Verizon Cloud don't you? Check the trashcan from a computer and move any contacts back to active. It is entirely possible that it is still something else but 9 out of 10 times it is VZW Cloud

Thank you for your help, unfortunately I have not set up my cloud and nothing is in there, even when I logged in and checked.

Thanks so much for reaching out to us on the community member forums. We know how important it is to be able to maintain your contacts without issue. Let's keep looking at options. Do you use a gmail account with your phone? If so, you can check for your contacts within your gmail account in the gmail webmail system by signing in on a computer.

No worries. The other area I have seen this is if your phone is set to automatically add contacts (either by email, text or phone) If it is automatically adding the contact, then at the time it is adding the phone does not know who it belongs to so it leaves it is unknown
