You can activate a Verizon-compatible phone, but you'll have to change plans to a smartphone plan.

We definitely want to be sure you have a working phone at all times. Prepaid devices are able to be activated on post pay (contract) accounts, assuming they are compatible with our network. Please keep in mind that VZW prepaid devices are restricted to be activated for at least 6 months on prepaid services before being able to activate them on post pay accounts.
