I cannot use any type of swipe on my phone. How do I stop this?

I cannot unlock my screen because I cannot swipe at all on the screen.

Did you try pressing the home button and the on/off button at the same time? When apple icon comes on screen leave go of buttons. This fixed my problem.

i am having the exact same issue but my phone's screen is cracked. does this mean the digitizer is out and would fixing the screen fix the problem?
