I'm considering whether to switch from more everything to verizon plan. Among other considerations, I'm wondering whether there will be discounts offered on phones when upgrade eligibility date comes.
Yes, you will be getting a discount to the tune of $20/month on your line access fee. That equates to $480 over what WOULD have been the life of a 2 yr contract. When you add in the fact you don't have to pay the $40 upgrade fee you did when signing a new 2 yr contract, that brings up the discount to $520.:smileyhappy:
So, If I understand what you're saying, the concept of upgrades goes away, and they just lower your monthly fees as compensation. Does that sum it up?
The concept of "discounted" upgrades in exchange for signing a new 2 yr contract has gone away. Yes, you can still get a discounted upgrade if you sign a contract but you will continue to pay a $40/month line access fee instead of a $20/month line access fee. In many instances, you would end up paying LESS if you pay full retail for the phone either up front or with payments over time.
What is Verizon doing for people who have large plans and are reaching the end of their contracts? I currently have 5 phones, 30Gigs of data, and unlimited talk and text on my plan and already pay around $400 a month. The phones that my family members want to upgrade to all cost between $25 and $30 a month. Added up it would cost me an extra $150 to $180 a month pushing my cost close to $600 a month. I really don't want to have to change carriers. I really like Verizon and have been with them for a numberof years, but unless there is some drastic cost savings available to my family and I, I feel that I will have no choice than to leave and seek service elsewhere.

Do you have the promo price which was offered on 30 GB of data a few years ago? If so, you would probably do better by staying with your current plan. If I remember correctly, that was offered at either $120 or $130/month. The current price of 30 GB of data is $225. Sometimes it is best to stay with the plan you have if it includes a good promotion price.
If you don't have the 30 GB promo price on your data, you would probably be paying LESS on the new plan with phone payments than you currently are.
Chuckles1972- We appreciate your busines and never want you to think that you are not being heard, worked with, or helped. From the numbers you have provided, it seems like we should have a clarifying conversation to go over the new and exsisting plans in detail. I will send a Private Message shortly.
