Threat detected, none found????

After I restart my phone, a Samsung galaxy s5, I frequently get a Verizon message pop up that says 'Threat detected, tap to review threat.' When I tap, Verizon security center opens, but there isn't anything in the list of threats to remove. Any ideas why this is happening and how I can make it stop? Or is there an actual threat but VZ can't deal with it? Thanks!

VZ Protect will display an error or threat message from time to time. It is simply an ad to purchase the full version of VZ Protect. Use Malwarebytes or Avast. Or something reputable. Disable VZ Protect, and the message will go away.

Bugsy2, I can understand your concern regarding that pop up. I would be concerned as well. We certainly can take a deeper look to see what is the cause of this message. When did you notice this popping up on your phone? Anything new downloaded? Any applications updated on the phone?

I'm not sure when it began, but probably in the past 6 months or so. It happens almost every time I restart my phone. No new applications have been added, just the periodic updates as prompted by the Google Play Store. I think it happened after a Verizon update but I can't be sure.

I just opened up VZ Protect and ran a scan, which found no threats when I check the Threat History from the main screen, however, in the drop down pop-up / notifications menu of the phone it's telling me there's a threat detected. When I tap on it to review the threat, the Security Threats window of VZ Protect opens and all it shows is an empty list.

Got any idea why it's doing this and how I can get it to stop?

Bugsy2, I would like to take this a step further. Thank you for all of the steps taken thus far. Can you please go into the Goggle Play Store and take a look to see if there is an update for the application? Also if the application is up to date, please uninstall it and reinstall.

Ok. The app was already up to date, but I uninstalled it as you asked. I can't completely remove it because it's one of VZs default apps... I wish I could remove some of them completely.... Anyway, after restarting the phone, I updated it back to current. After another restart, it didn't show the warning message. I'll give it a few days and let you know if it's working. Thanks!
