You still have to pay for your phone, and find a replacement on your own.
You can only add insurance during the first 30 days. Not any time after that.
Can you buy auto insurance after you crash?
Can you buy health insurance after you get appendicitis?
That is not how insurance works. The economics would not work if everyone was allowed to do that. No one would buy insurance until they needed it.
