Time incorrect by one hour

Droid Turbo - This morning time shown was one hour later (Mountain Time) for my time zone (Pacific). I verified in Setup that Automatic date & time and Automatic time zone are on. I turned them off and back on again to no avail. Google maps GPS shows my location correctly. Powering off the Droid and turning back on solved the problem for about 2 hours but then time jumped an hour ahead again.

What's going on?

falsedawn, having an incorrect time appear on your device is definitely an inconvenience especially when we depend on our devices for appointments, alarms and for so many of us as our primary source of the actual time. I can certainly assist you with this. Snn5, has provided you with some excellent and highly recommended steps. Were you able to complete those and correct that issue? If so, please mark her answer as correct.

If not, please also be sure to go into your Settings>Date &Time and make sure that your Automatic date & time and Automatic time Zone are both set to On in green. The time zone should be greyed out but also make sure it reflects correctly for your area. If the time zone is incorrect, turn the Automatic time zone option to off to correct it manually and then turn that setting back on to ensure it stays enabled.

I just tried powering my Droid off and on again and this time the time was not corrected. It is still one hour ahead.

Might I suggest removing the SIM, power down, reinsert SIM and power on. This is the equivalent to the old *228 for PRL we used to do on 3G phones. This might refresh your tower locations and put you in the correct zone.

I have not tried the SIM card fix yet because snn5 says to remove the SIM, power down, reinsert SIM and power up again. The Verizon Wireless knowledge base warns against removing the SIM when the device is powered on. Which is right?

Power down first. Some people have to take the battery out to get to the SIM. I do not power down first, but if you feel safer, power down first.

The point to my method is, that the connection to the network needs to be broken and started fresh. Even when the device is powered off, there is still a connection between the SIM and the phone, because the battery keeps current flowing to maintain memory and time etc....Removing the SIM breaks that connection to the network.

Snn5, I just tried your fix. The phone displayed the correct time initially but very quickly jumped an hour ahead. Now what?

Having the same problem. Chatted with Verizon yesterday thought is was solved, but it came back today. Verizon network / andrior phone thinks I am in the Central Time Zone not Eastern.

I tried manually setting to eastern time then turned Automatic back on. Within a few hours it changes back to central.

I live in Ohio and work in Michigan (55 miles apart) it is happening at both locations.

Would be interested to know what time zone everyone is going to as some have noted they are an hour ahead and some an hour behind.

I've done some more investigation. I still am an hour ahead. I tried Snn5's method again as well as powering down my Droid. The correct time will be displayed after performing either of these methods but jumps ahead when either (1) the display times out and I turn it back on, or (2) I turn off the phone and turn it back on again.

If I can't fix the problem I will be returning the phone.

Droid Turbo Owner.....I have gone through all the blogs regarding the discrepancy with phone changing time by one hour ahead at any given time..I have done all that the Verizon Rep suggested and to no avail..I, like all the rest of you, have a HUGE problem with this ..Another words, I will never know if my time is correct or not..Verizon this is not acceptable!!!!!!!! Why have a product when it only half works..You would think all these problems would be tested and accurate before putting on the market..How sad to know that many other products also have glitches.."EVERY DAY" I become more and more disappointed with not only the service but now the product..Well ya'll unhappy customers ...what can we do?? They charge us for full service AND it is a pretty penny YET all functions are not in working order and it is NOT our fault but Verizon's...Hope they do the right thing!!!!

I am annoyed at waking up an hour early but relieved to know I'm not crazy and it isn't just me. Ha ha

Same issue here. I'm in PST but Verizon thinks I'm in MST. Sounds like a network issue. Verizon, you need to fix this ASAP and send out an email to all affected customers explaining what happened. Very inconvenient, just happy it wasn't Hawaii time.

Both Verizon phones in our house were displaying the wrong times. The third phone with Cricket is fine. The time issue changed every calendar appointment and alarms on the phones which is scary if it wasn't caught. So far taking the "Automatic time zone" off and manually changing my time zone back to Pacific, everything has reverted back to normal.

I noticed KUSI wasn't displaying the time this morning, maybe they depend on Verizon as well? Also, is this due to Verizon's updated website? It looks different from yesterday.

Both of our phones are having the same issue.

We have a Droid Turbo and a Galaxy S6 and both changed in the middle of the night from PST to Mountain while on automatic time zone.

We have a Galaxy S4 that we use around the house that is not on the VZ network, only on wifi, and has the correct time zone selected so this must be a VZ issue...

I have disabled automatic time zone as we tend to not leave the timezone that often (We usually just drive north from SoCal)

Hopefully VZ figures this out, I'd be pissed to be living on the east coast and have my phone change to mountain time and make me 2 hours late...

Looks like i'm dusting off the old atomic alarm clock.

Same problem here in Los Angeles. My gf's iPhone on Verizon is showing the correct time but my galaxy s5 is an hour ahead. I thought I was going crazy for a second, woke up and showered and it was still dark out! Restarted and it went back to normal for about 15 minutes before advancing an hour again.

Same here. Mountain time instead of Pacific.Had to turn off network detection and set manually to Pacific. Really inconvenient. And what if it had been reversed and instead of being one hour early, it was one hour late? Many of us would be late for work? I want to know what Verizon Will do to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

Time on mine went back to normal exactly at 8:01. Not sure what is going on but I'm glad this thread is here as proof that I'm not crazy.

Hello, This is a major issue for your users. It needs to be addressed.

It appears clear that the issue is not related to the model of phone based on the responses on this tread.

It does not appear to be one specific time zone, but Eastern seems to be in Central and Pacific seems to be in Mountain based on most comments.

It appears to have started Tuesday night going into Wednesday morning.

Not sure if it is a Andriod OS issue or a Verizon issue, but it would be nice for Verizon to acknowldge there is some tyoe of issue!

I had the same issue. Woke me up an hour early ( 4:30am instead of 5:30am PDT ). Some times the display showed 2 different times ( on the top bar was one hour ahead of the weather bar ). It corrected itself after about an hour. Damage was done as I reached work early.

Yeah same stupidity at my end too :-( Incorrect time- my phone keeps setting it's clock back by an hour, every night.

Verizon - if this continues, I will be forced to switch providers, can't keep killing my sleep every day.

Sometime this morning my Samsung Galaxy 5S defaulted to MDT..... I am in PDT. My tablet, which is on the same network, is correct. My iPhone 5S, which is on AT&T, is correct. When I arrived at work, my Samsung corrected itself to PDT.

Any ideas?

Technical Support:

I tried your solution of removing the SIM for 30 seconds. I tried it twice. The correct time is displayed until I turn the phone off or the display times out. When turned back on, the time is off by an hour. The same thing occurs if you power the phone off completely and reboot it.

And Auto Time Zone has been enabled the entire time.

I don't know what Verizon did but a couple of days ago my phone suddenly started showing the correct time and has ever since. Hopefully the problem is gone permanently.

I realize it would have been easy for me to ignore my Samsung Note and rely on more traditional means for time changes. All the clues pointed to my cell phone being wrong. But I too made the mistake of trusting Verizon and Samsung. I called Verizon customer technical support at 7:40 am (actual) pacific time to explain the issue and was told that nobody had called in with a similar issue. I thanked the staffer and said that I would search for technical support through another venue. As of 9:40 am (actual) pacific time, the phone still shows the wrong time. So a secondary question for Verizon and Samsung - how is it that technical support remained entirely unaware of this issue even at 7:40 am pacific time on September 30, 2015? That is almost a worse mistake than avoiding the issue in the first place. A lot of the trust these companies built through years of hard work was squandered. These are unacceptable and totally avoidable mistakes that strongly suggest that Verizon and Samsung are unworthy of their customers' trust. Verizon should refund or rebate its customers' bills for such outrageous mistakes.

With so many of us relying on our phones for alarm clocks, watches, etc, it's important to keep that time corrrect, gsanmartin. Any time a device shows the wrong time on the top by the signal, and you've completed the SIM pull and reboot, it's time to lift this up to our network group. Is this issue still ongoing?

I have the same issue. Sometimes the timezone is wrong, somtimes it is correct. Sometimes I power cycle/sim cycle the phone and it fixes it, sometimes not. It is just random and recurring. Another guy in my office has the same problem. I'm home now and it works. Other people in my office with Verizon don't have the problem but they have different phones. If I had to characterize the problem it would be that it most likely occurs at work and on droid turbo phones (which run lollipop). It is like the base station near my work has the wrong timezone set so if I lock to that basestation I get the wrong timezone. I set to manual timezone and all is good, so far.

I had the same problem For about 2 weeks on my note 4 I tested it and found out that some how turning on automatic time zone would switch it to mountain time Evan that I am on pst and turning that off has helped so far

I am convinced the problem is related to the cell tower near my work. As I drive home the clock goes from mountain time to pacific time where it stays until I drive back to work and then it switches back to mountain time. In fact it switches at the exact same point that my cell phone data quality drops (fewer bars). If I turn off the automatic settings and fix at pacific time all is good. So something in the Turbo Droid is misinterpreting the timezone for the cell tower near my office.
