Delay when answering a call

Both my wife and I have Samsung Galaxy S6 phones. This past week we were both upgraded to Advanced Calling 2.0. After the upgrade every inbound call has a 1 or 2 second delay before the caller can hear us. My father also has the Galaxy S6 and he is experiencing the same issue. If we disable Advanced Calling the issue goes away.

Also we have enabled Wifi Calling so I have not tested disabling WiFi calling to see if this resolves the issue.

It’s admirable that you’ve collected so much detail thus far. Thank you, rdsandjs. Just to hone in on the root cause of this lag in audio, are these three S6 phones using the same WiFi network? Call quality while using Wi-Fi Calling can be related to the quality of the Wi-Fi connection. Does this lag occur while connected to a different Wifi network? Additionally for best results, be sure the phone is not performing any app updates or file downloads as an Advanced Call is taking place. Let us know the results of testing with WiFi Calling turned off.

To clarify the lag happens when either connected to Wi-Fi or 4G. The three S6 phones that I referenced are connected to different Wi-Fi networks.

Lastly, I've made / received approximately 25 calls over the last 5 days so I'm sure the phone is not performing app updates nor file downloads for all those calls.

I appreciate this additional information, rdsandjs. When the lag occurs on your calls, is the caller aware of the dead air at the beginning of the call? Have any of these examples involved the use of Bluetooth or a headset? Please check the following Settings>Applications>Phone>Automatic Answering, switch this to off.

None of the three Galaxy S6 phones that I mentioned are using bluetooth headsets. Also, Automatic Answering was already off.

The callers are "aware" of dead air because they are waiting for someone to answer. Typically when the phone rings, I will move the slider on the touch screen and say hello immediately. The caller never hears that first "hello". I have to say "hello" a 2nd or 3rd time before the caller hears anything.
