How do I get rid of Hangouts?

You can't uninstall it but you can disable it so it will disappear.

Go to settings / Apps then swipe from right to left till the all options is at the top.

Scroll down to find Hangouts and click on it.

Then click the disable button on the top right.

We want you to have control of your the apps you use the most so this is a great question! Most Hangout apps can be disabled from your phone. Please go to your Settings, then select Application Manager, scroll to your right and select "All". From that list, locate Hangouts>click on Disable.
