Curious if Verizon will have a seperate pre-order than apple will.
Just going by all past new iPhones, you can order on Verizon or Apple or Best Buy or .....
usually vzw will let you preorder
I'm just hoping that the pre-order experience will be a little better than the launch of the iP6 (which was a hot mess). I noticed that Apple moved the pre-order from Friday @ midnight to Saturday @ midnight. I don't know if it'll make any difference but I'll soon find out at 2am (my time) this coming Saturday morning.
Order from a carrier will ALWAYS be a hot mess. The problem is how Apple does logistics. Their stock and their orders first before they hand any to carriers. Has always been that way.
Why would you order from Verizon, unless you are going to pay for the phone outright. Most do the Apple Care Plan, and the iPhone Upgrade plan through Apple will have competitive pricing to VZW's device payment plan, AND you get to upgrade in a year when the iPhone 7 comes out. It just seems like Apple is trying to take the device distribution away from the carriers.
I wonder if Verizon will offer something to keep people from going through Apple. Seriously though- I'd rather pay Apple for the device than VZ, and be able to upgrade in 12 months.
For some, the benefit of using Verizon is the line access discount you get by using their device payment plan. If you order directly from Apple...there is no guarantee that Verizon will still offer said discount to you...
Thanks, this is a point I hadn't considered. And which no one else made!
I was wondering that also they also a lower deductible then Aursion. If you don't have good credit you wouldn't be able to go through Apple. I like the ideal you can upgrade every year. The phone will also be unlock which you use at any carrier if purchased from Apple.
Verizon may still throw a trade in incentive like they did last year with the iPhone 6 - I think it was $200 for any iPhone. I sent in a 4 and a 4S and got $200 for each. That may sway some on where they buy.
@Dridas In my case, ordering through Verizon is the only payment plan option I have. I would love to use the Apple Upgrade plan, but it required in store pick-up. I verified this with an Apple rep. Since the nearest Apple store is 5 hours away that isn't really an option for me.
@Loquat Based on the info I have found, the discount is if you have an off contract phone. The Apple Upgrade program in not a contact with Verizon, so you should still get the discount. It's kinda old, but here is an article - Verizon to give discounts to customers with off-contract phones | iMore
@BrownSugar67 - According to this page Verizon no longer locks their phones, so you are free to go anywhere with it after you pay it off. Device Unlocking Policy | Verizon Wireless

The only thing to add, at least with the iPhone 6 and 6 plus is the unlocked version from Apple supported more bands and is a little better world phone if traveling to Japan or China which used TD-LTE.
If you already have an Edge Agreement you can't pre-order the iPhone 6s you have to wait until the 25 of September. I spoke with a representative this morning. I'm starting really dislike Verizon what is purpose of pre order. They really need to go back to the Edge program
BrownSugar,
I'm on an Edge agreement and I was abe to pre-order without any issues. If you're on an Edge agreement then you'll need to pay whatever is needed to bring your payment up to the 60 or 75% of the agreement or pay the balance off completely. After deciding which way you want to proceed it should let you go through without any issues.
I paid over 70 percent any the representative said I couldn't pre order
Did you try to preorder online, or just preorder through a rep?
I'd try again but I did exactly what the rep is telling you that you can't do and I have absolutely no problems. Actually I was able to get in before the official start time. It wasn't suppose to go live until 2:01am CST and I had already placed by order and received confirmation by 1:57am CST.

I spoke with a Verizon customer service rep about this. She confirmed that buying the device via another source (i.e., Apple, etc.) results in the loss of the the 'line access discount'. (This is worded as "$25 SP DEVICE PAYMENT DISC" on my monthly bill.) That made my decision easy; I paid the balance on my existing device (after arranging to sell it online) and then ordered the 6s Plus through Verizon.
Did you ask though, if you could then add the month to month discount for the same amount? You didn't ask the right question.
Ditto to this - I'd lose the $25 line discount if going to Apple. Ordered mine Saturday.

If you're not in a 2 year contract you should qualify for some sort of line discount. If you lose your line discount for finishing your device payment plan, you can just login to your account and add the month to month line discount for the same amount.
