My wife accidentally dropped her phone in water, yes we know this is our fault and we should be held accountable. However, we purchased insurance on the phone and I have filed the claim with Asurion to get it replaced. Since the phone was new when we bought it from the verizon store, the insurance should cover the water damage and send us a new phone. I received the first package and the phone was shrink wrapped to a piece of cardboard, put in a box and came with some papers from Asurion along with a return cushion envelope. When booting up the first replacement device I noticed two grey lines underneath the apple sign and after letting the screen stay on for 5 minutes, pushed the screen lock button and pushed screen lock once more, I could see the outline of faded app icon images that seem to have "burned" into the LCD screen. I called Asurion once more and asked for a NEW replacement device and I keep getting the same response "we are not currently in-stock of that item". If I am going to keep paying the price of a new phone with insurance then I expect there to be a new replacement device. Not USED, but new, in the manufacturers box with the original paperwork for the exact phone.
