dropped fee???

I was recently informed at Sam's Club that a service fee was dropped and that is why we pay monthly for a new phone when our contract is renewed, making it a wash in a monetary way. My question is if I don't get a new phone shouldn't I be paying less due to the dropped fee???

Hi there brnyrd,

This is a great question, and I am glad that you are reaching out to us. It isn't necessarily that the line access fee dropped, or was removed. But when you are on the Device Payment, the access fee is given a discount. This discount happens when on the Verizon Plan, with a Device Payment option.

That depends on your current plan. If yo uare on an older, legacy, Nationwide plan, there is no change to make, as you line fee is $10, and you have separate data and texting and minute fees.

If you are on More Everything, then yes, you can call in and ask for the line access discount for out of contract lines. Your line access fee is $40 per line, and if your data bucket is 6GB or more, you can get $25 off per out of contract line. If your plan is less than 6GB, the discount is $15. You have to call in and request this, or apply it online if you can find the place to do so (it keeps changing and only shows up when you qualify, so I can't give you steps to get there!!) It isn't automatic.

If you are on the newer Verizon plan, the line access fee is $40 if you are in contract, and is supposed to automatically drop to $20 when your contract ends.
