Edge upgrading to iPhone 6s by preordering.

Since the iPhone 6s won't be sold until the 25th, does that mean that if I choose to upgrade by preordering, I'll be two weeks without a phone? I ask because I was going to send my old device back to verizon as part of the upgrade deal and want to make sure I can wait those two weeks before sending my current device back.

You are not charged until it ships, and you cant send in your phone until you receive a phone.  The trade in offer details and bag/box should be shipped with the phone from Verizon for the return of the old phone.  I wouldn't bet on 2 weeks, since a lot of the time, these pre-order/shipping times are sometimes way behind.
