Yes, you can purchase a new phone whenever you want. You can also purchase a used one from a site such as swappa.com. You can also borrow one from a friend/relative who has an extra one laying around.

If your phone is having a problem, you can call CS and get a warranty replacement(refurbished phone, not new) if the phone is still under warranty and the problems are from manufacturer defects.

If your phone has any physical damage, it will void the warranty and you will be charged for the replacement phone you are sent.
