My Droid Maxx will not connect to 4G. Works fine when connected to WiFi.
Can you make sure the mobile data is enabled.
It is checked.
You might want to try powering the phone off, removing the SIM card, reinstalling the sim card and powering it back on.
Tried that also and still will not connect. Think I might need a new sim card?

Not sure when it started. Could have been as far back as November. May have been intermittent. I don't recall installing any updates in quite sometime. No new apps that I can think of. My zip is 27526.
Been watching closer today. 4g icon will came on for about 2 mins. Long enough for my email to come up. Tried to pull up Facebook and it went down again. Came up again for about 30 seconds then went off. This happened when I was trying to login to WiFi at work.
Thank you for those additional details. Let's definitely keep digging here. We are not showing any known issues there in NC. Does the data connection issue seem to be occurring indoors &/or outdoors? Is it occurring in one specific spot or all over?
