Cancelling one line on a plan with two?

I recently purchased a phone through Googles Project Fi. If I port my phone number over to my new phone, will that cancel just my line? I am on a plan with my mother, all under her name and I do not want to disrupt her service. I am aware of ETF's and that is not an issue.
