When I take a picture the camera automatically closes and does not allow me to view or save the picture taken.
Is the device locked when taking the photo? e.g. if you have the quick setting turned on you can twist your wrist twice to enable to camera. If you take a photo there you normally can't share it etc. since the phone is not unlocked. I'm assuming your device is in fact unlocked during this. You may want to try and run teh Software Repair Assistant tool by plugging your device into a computer:
