I am very upset this morning at what I've learned.
My mother went into Verizon last night intending to buy the new Samsung Galaxy S7, mainly to take advantage of the promotion to get the Oculus VR headset free. I guess her assistant has been telling her how amazing it is every day and that the last day to do it was yesterday, the 18th. So she went and the staff there was completely ignorant of their jobs and the promotion.
I showed up to help out after she had been there a while, and the guy she was with had already told her the news that it had actually ended the day before! Me being the trusting person that I am simply believed it, although the man really didn't seem like he had a clue what he was talking about. Supposedly he went around asking every member of the staff and none of them had a clue what was going on. She ended up not buying the phone and now feels like not upgrading at all, so this is negative towards all aspects of Verizon business.
Today, I was informed that March 18th really was the last day of the promotion. Friday, not Thursday as this man told us. We WERE there at the right time and were eligible for this free bonus, but because of an ignorant and incompetent staff, we have been screwed over and are now apparently out of luck. Is there any way that we can file a real complaint at Verizon corporate? I feel like they stole $150 from my mom and something really needs to be done about this. A store should not be allowed to operate not knowing what they're doing and telling customers false narratives because they don't feel like figuring out how to do their jobs.
