Has anyone heard any update on when the Gear S2 Classic 3G is going to ship? When I preordered, it said on or before April 4. My Galaxy S7 Edge was slated to deliver on March 11, but arrived March 9, so I am hopping I might get the watch early too.
spdooley,
This is a great promotion and I know that I too would be excited to get my free gear ASAP. However, the fullfillment date for the free accessories can take 4-6 weeks. You can find all the details for the promotion by visiting Samsungs website here http://promo.samsungpromotions.com/.

Thanks for your reply, but this question was not about the free Gear S2 promotion. I preordered the Gear S2 Classic 3G for $350 on a 2 year contract (Samsung Gear S2 classic | Verizon Wireless). I had referenced the S7 Edge just to illustrate that sometimes things ship ahead of the estimate. I was hoping that maybe it had already shipped for someone.

Our apologizes for the misunderstanding! I know you are, rightfully so, pretty eager to get your gear. Have you checked your email recently? Generally, there is an email sent prior to shipping. Contract price is not retail price. You are getting the regular Gear S2 which retail prices is $349.99
Scratch that. You made it confusing referencing the S7. The classic is not a preorder. It's on backorder it seems so they are waiting for their shipment to come in from Samsung before fulfilling those orders.
Thanks. I know mine has not shipped yet. I've checked my order online and it's still processing (not that I was surprised). I was just hoping it might be stating to roll out ahead of schedule.
While I appreciate your want to be of assistance Tidbits, I find your responses have done little to further the conversation. I did in fact preorder the Gear S2 Classic 3G, as can be seen by clicking the reference link I provided in my earlier post. The question posed was simply asking if anyone else had received their orders yet, not looking for someone to pick part what I ordered, or how much it should cost.
I also have "Pre-Orderd" the Samsung Gear S2 Classic 3G from Verizon online. If you look at their page to Pre-Order the device, it clearly says DELIVER BY 04/01, but when you look at your Order Status page on Verizon, it says EXPECTED SHIP DATE 04/01/2016. There is clearly a difference in the dates that Verizon is telling their customers before and after the purchase. Since April 1st is a Friday, we are looking at Tuesday, April 5th for delivery at the earliest, and that's if it ships on April 1st. I talked to Verizon customer support, and they will not give out any information on when to expect delivery. When I told them about the DELIVER BY 04/01 statement on their website, they just disregarded it, and said that I will get an email notification whenever it does ship.
To make things worse for Verizon customers, AT&T has been selling their version of the Samsung Gear S2 Classic 3G in their stores for a few weeks now. They also have it priced at $249.99 with a 2 year contract (Verizon - $349.99), or $349.99 without a contract (Verizon -$399.99). Because of the new eSIM technology in the Samsung Gear S2 Classic 3G, you can purchase the device from AT&T and have it work with Verizon (with all features), but they are making you jump through hoops to do it. After you purchase the watch from AT&T, you have to go to AT&T's website and submit a request to unlock the device. They CANNOT do this for you at the store, it has to be done by you online. It can then take a week for AT&T to unlock that device so you can use it with another carrier. I didn't think it was worth the hassle in order to save a few bucks, but I wish that Verizon would price this watch more like AT&T, and credit the customers that pre-ordered. Another wishful thought, to go along with my DELIVER BY 04/01.
Yea, as much as I hate to admit it, we are all being held down by the big red thumb........
Here's another example of the confusion behind the scenes.
So we get an e-mail saying "free S7 or S7 Edge for registering our devices" I thought they were smap so I reached out and chatted up a rep. Sure enough, for each S7 or S7 Edge you buy, you get one free. long story short, you cannot get a free S2 classic, you cannot get free wireless charger/stand, you cannot get any other free accessories. Only a free phone. Crazy. Of course, I will have to pay to add the lines, and pay to add the phones. But I can get 1500.00 worth of phones free? I was so tempted to buy them, and then pay the early termination fees for not activating them and then sell them.
I would so much rather have the S2 classic, the vr headset, the in-ear BT headset, and a wireless charger than another phone. Imagine how many people would want to switch over from other carriers if Verizon offered that package.
On the up side, I do really like my S7 Edge. I just wish I has the S2 Classic to go with it.............
That was supposed to say I thought it was "SPAM"
Sorry.
You need to remember that since the time you ordered your watch, a lot of other people have also placed orders too. Unless you have received something telling you that your particular delivery is delayed, then you shouldn't be referencing a date targeted to someone who hasn't placed an order. The ship by date on that pages is adjusted based on orders in the system, current inventory, and when they expect the next batch to come in. I have never received a device late from Verizon, but occasionally I receive it early.
AT&T is selling the watch for $249, but the access fee is $5 more per month. At the end of the 2 year contract, you will have paid $489 for the watch and 24 months of access fees. With Verizon you pay $469 for the watch and 24 months of access fees. You would not be able to the watch from AT&T without having to setup a data plan, so you would not end up saving money, plus you'd have to go through all the hassle.
I don't feel as though I am being held down by anything. I have good reliable service, and by the end of the week I will have the product I ordered. This message thread is about purchasing the Gear S2 Classic 3G, not the free items that you could receive when purchasing the S7 or S7 Edge. The promotion to get a free VR or S2 was only in effect for preorders, but either way, I can't speak to that status as it doesn't apply to my situation.
I do have to agree that I have never seen the value behind a buy one get one on phones. Maybe there are a lot more share plans out there than I think? I'd love to see a variety of promotions out there. Especially as pertains to single-line plans vs multi-line plans. If you're still listening customer service, consider this feedback!
No, I get it and I apologize for hijacking the thread. I talked to the big V again yesterday since they decided to charge me for things I didn't have (S2 Watches) and in the end I asked "when are we getting the classic" and I was told they had a meeting earlier in the day and they were told that the S2 Classics are shipping this week. V stores should start receiving them by the end of this week, or sometime next week. Pre-orders would be set aside and the shelves will be stocked with the remainder.
Sorry I did not ask if they were shipping direct to the customers at the same time for those types of orders but I assume that will be the case.
Now that I have said all these things in defense of Verizon, when I logged in just now, my order for the the Gear S2 Classic has disappeared... I hope it is because they are updating it to say it has shipped. Otherwise, let's grab the pitchforks and torches!
I in no way was trying to glorify AT&T. There is a reason I am with Verizon, and have been for over 15 years. The two points that I was trying to make were 1) When I placed my order, and when I typed my first reply to this thread, the product page stated that delivery would be by April 1st. My order confirmation e-mail stated also that it would be delivered by April 1st. However, my Verizon Order Status page states that my order will ship on April 1st. I just wanted to know which it was, Delivered by April 1st or Shipped on April 1st. 2) As for the pricing between AT&T and Verizon, because of the new eSIM technology, you could purchase the watch from AT&T without a contract for $50.00 less than Verizon, and then use the watch on your Verizon account. I never said anything about paying access fees to AT&T which I know are twice as much as Verizon. And I made it clear that because of how hard AT&T makes it to unlock one of their devices, that it wasn't worth the hassle or money. That is why I purchased my Gear S2 Classic through Verizon.
Finally, my order status changed tonight and shows that it is Processing for Shipment. Still don't know yet if that means it will ship before April 1st. Hope you enjoy the watch whenever you get it.
