Very disappointed - losing monthly line discount?

When I switched to the More Everything plan about 17 months ago I was told at that time that I would get a monthly discount on each smartphone line ($40 per line - $25 discount = $15 per line) AND that this discount would continue after the device payments were completed.

I now have one more month of device payments and I'm being told that they did away with the 'month-to-month' discount so my per line charge will go up to $40 per month.

VERY disappointed - to be told 17 months ago the the discount would continue and then to be told something else!

With the More Everything I'm currently getting 15gb for $100 plus I have 4gb of promotional data. If I switch to the Verizon Plan my per line charge will go up to $20 and for $100 I will get 18gb and lose the 4gb promotional data.

Not good.

So is all this information correct - no more month-to-month discount even though I was told I would continue to get the discount?

jrusch, we want to make sure that all of your bill concerns are addressed. You are eligible for the discount for as long as you continue to have an active device loan agreement and keep that More Everything plan. Once the device is paid off, that discount will be removed. However, you have the option of moving to a new simple Verizon Plan. Your Smartphone monhly access fee will be $20.00 per month if that line is out of contract.

As far as I know, the month to month discount is still available for the More Everything plan. You do need to go online to your account and apply it once your device is paid off; or call customer service and request the discount be applied.

DIscount is still active, AFAIK.

I Just added a line to my account, and since I brought my own phone, Verizon added the $25 discount without even asking for it.

Does that mean as soon as I make the last payment of my device loan agreement than that agreement will no longer be "active?"

My problem with the new simple Verizon Plan is that I currently have 4gb of promotional data that won't transfer to this new plan. This plan will end up costing me the same amount with 1gb less of data.

I just checked My Verizon and now I confused again. Is shows I am getting a $25 SP Device Payment Disc with an "Expiration Date" of never. If I'm going to lose this it shouldn't state "NEVER" it should have the date that the active device loan agreement ends!

I'm thinking of switching to Straight Talk - $45.00 a month for unlimited talk, text, and 5gb of data. Pros/Cons?

So, LasinaH - once the device is paid off on More Everything, and is owned by the customer, the line fee goes UP??? What happened to the month to month discount? Is the only option to move to the Verizon plan?

I definitely want to see you stay right here with Verizon and keep enjoying our reliable network on your phone, jrusch. The expiration date isn’t listed because you always have the opportunity to pay off your agreement early, so the end of the device payment discount may change based on what you select. With the Verizon Plan, the $20 access is for any smartphone line out of contract whether it’s due to having an active device payment agreement or just bringing your own device. It’s not that the line access is discounted, the access itself changes from $40 to $20. With More Everything, the $25 discount was a promotional offer for lines out of contract that will not be available after March 10th but a similar discount is still available as the device payment discount with an active payment agreement.

Do you currently have any employee discount on your account www.vzw.com/discounts? Are you using all the data in your current plan on a regular basis?

This is the first I've heard of this...will customers currently getting the $25 out of contract discount retain it? So you are saying that anyone currently in contract on More Everything will NOT get the discount when the contract ends (since we are past March 10) unless they get a new device with device payments??

Yes, I have an employee discount. And yes, we are using all the data on my current plan on a regular basis. Not sure how any of that is relevant to my issue though.

Is everyone going to lose their out of contract $25 discount? Or if I would have applied that before March 10 I would be able to keep getting the discount? That information would have been nice to know before March 10! I could have paid off my device payments one month early...
