4 Towers within 4 miles but bad reception

I have done a search and there are 4 cell towers within 4 miles of my new home but I can only get one bar of 3G and sometimes no service at all. I love Verizon and have been with them for years but I am considering AT&T to get better reception. I now live in a rural area and cell is the best option for home internet so I must have dependable service.

Question: can Verizon lease from towers nearby? Or is this worth pursuing? Should I just take the path of least resistance and switch carriers?

Sounds like you may need a new provider. You could try a 4g signal booster, but it may not be enough to provide satisfactory results if you never see 4g near your home.

Michael-Mc, let's open up the floor for some additional ideas. If you have an iPhone or any of these models http://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/wificalling/ , let us introduce wifi calling. It would rely on your home internet connection to make calls.

WiFi calling would be a great idea but if you had truly read my message you

would understand that Verizon wireless would be my primary provider for

internet WiFi. I intend to use a hotspot. So what now?

I think you already know the answer to this. If you can't get home internet service from a true home internet provider then you need to switch wireless providers or check into wifi only offers from a different carrier if you don't really want to end your service with Verizon. Unless you can wait it out and see if things improve.
