I am having a problem with my Verizon iPhone 5. I found the little hole, but nothing 'pops out' per the alleged SIM card. I thought Verizon iPhones didn't use SIM cards.
All modern smartphones on Verizon use SIMs. If it has LTE, it uses a SIM. For iPhones, iPhone 5 and above all use SIMs. You no longer do the *228 on these phones, it doesn't do anything. The PRL is updated every time the phone boots up from full off. To take the SIM card out, you straighten a small paperclip and press firmly straight in the whole in the slim tray on the side of the iPhone.
