LG V10 Boot loop issue?

Has anyone else had any problems with their V10 getting stuck on the "LG life is good" splash screen? My phone randomly froze last night, so I pulled the battery to do a restart. It would only get to the LG screen and no further. After 45 mins of that, I just gave up. A lot of forums are saying that it's a increasingly common issue with this phone. Just wondering if anyone had a similar experience, and if so were any solutions found.

To all that are having this issue, this is something that can happen with the LG V10. You will need to get it replaced. There is no way to fix it. You should visit a Verizon Wireless Corporate Store. If you are under warranty, have Total Mobile Protection, Total Equipment Protection or Extended Warranty on your line you should get a no charge replacement if your device is free of physical or liquid damage.

Dskt313, I couldn't imagine having my phone freeze up for so long. Is this still the case? What were you doing when this started? Had your phone been giving you any issues before this?

I am having the same problem with my LG V10. I was texting and looking at movies on flixster. The phone frooze for a short time then rebooted. Now it wont go past the LG splash screen.

I am having the same problem with mine. I was using Facebook Messenger when it froze. I pulled the battery and when I re-started it I was stuck on the LG Life's Good screen. I have tried to do a system reset and a factory reset. After I just finished setting up after the factory reset and was restoring cloud it restarted itself and got stuck on the LG screen again.

Yup, this is an LG issue and a very disappointing one. I bought my LG V10 Jan. 6, 2016 and it did the dreaded Boot Loop on Jan. 24, 2017- I googled the problem and found lots of sites with links to people with LG G4 and LG V10 phones experiencing this fatal error, which requires the phones being returned to LG for a fix. I printed the prepaid shipping label from LG repair website and sent my beloved V10 off FedEx. LG never sent a confirmation email, which had been promised, and when I emailed to complain about the whole mess on LG website, I never received yet another promised email within 24 hours. VERY DISAPPOINTED in LG! According to the LG Repair site, my phone has been received and is being repaired and will be delivered in 6 business days. (Over a week without a phone). I had been considering upgrading sometime to the LGV20, but am now so disillusioned with LG that I may switch to another brand.

The phones seem to experience this boot loop episode about a year after purchase. Just enough after warranty to be too late, but LG promises to fix the phones no matter when purchased. This is probably because change.org had a petition with grievance against LG with 12,000+ signatures.....

I am hoping that when my phone finally is repaired and returned, it will be reliable and never die with the dreaded boot loop again, though I will have a hard time trusting it.

My biggest concern is getting information, pics, etc, off my phone before sending back to Verizon. How can this be done?

Save your contacts and calendar to Google and save your photos to Google Photos (free unlimited storage).

I tried the freezer and blow dryer methods described on Youtube with little success. It booted up long enough to copy my small collection of ringtones. However, it reverts to the bootloop quickly without giving me enough time to copy larger files like photos. I fortunately use Google Drive for photos but the resolutions are lower than the original photos.

I will not buy another LG product ever again. Their repetitive poor quality (G4 and V10) and customer service suck compared to others.

Having this issue. Got my V10 1 year and 2 weeks ago, just long enough to be out of warranty. Went to my local verizon and the customer service was awful. Pretty much told me that sucks all we can do is let you pay it off and buy a new phone. This wasn't my fault and now I'm stuck with the burden. Im beyond upset.

How much longer did you have to pay for the phone? You went to Verizon? I went to Verizon last night. Had to pay off the worthless piece and buy a new phone. And yes it was not another lg! I do want to see if I can get some money back. Pretty crappie that I had to pay for a phone at full price that was defective.

Hi, I have the same issue happening currently, and the best part is it started on a Sunday, when none of the Verizon stores near me are open. So now I am stuck with a brick until tomorrow evening after work. Is there anyone that can help me with this issue today?

I called Verizon and was graciously offered a free refurbished phone that would get to me by 8 pm on Tuesday. I live in Seattle so this equates to three days without a phone as I got off the phone with Verizon around 9:40 AM. I know I will get to pay for the completely and utterly unusable service for those intervening 3 days without a phone, which is AWESOME! And I will get a pittance of a peace offering from Verizon for my "difficulties".

Verizon, I love your service, I love knowing that I can pick up my phone basically anywhere in my day to day life, and have reception, but your customer service regarding manufacturing issues with phones is terrible. I have friends on Sprint and AT&T who when they have a manufacturing issue with their phones, they can walk into a service center and be taken care of often times walking out of the store with a refurbished phone, but because there are no true Verizon stores open near me on a Sunday and generally you don't carry refurbished phones in store, I can't even speak with someone local, much less find a quicker solution to my issue.

Verizon is not responsible for your phone. If you don't have a backup phone to use during the time that you are waiting for the replacement that is not Verizon's fault. If you were to go directly to the manufacturer, they would make you send the phone to them and getting it back could take 3 weeks.

The service centers you speak of for AT&T and Sprint aren't company stores. They are a third party company. Usually they are few and far between. I had AT&T and had to travel to one of them. It was an hour and 20 minutes from my house. Maybe that isn't such a big deal for you and if you think that these things are convenient then switch to a carrier who offers that service.

Verizon got rid of the ability to do warranty exchanges in store so that they didn't have to tie up inventory by distributing it to hundreds of stores leaving some with and some without the most popular phone models. It is also cheaper to have a central location where the devices are shipped from and to. The phone comes to you and you send back the defective one. Simple.

I have owned a V10 since Jan 2016 and this is the first I am hearing about the bootloop issue.....of course, because it just happened to me. I just replaced my old one under Asurion warranty back in March because mine was stolen at work. After reading reviews and realizing there is no fix, I called LG to see about repair. In doing so, I had to check receipts from replacement from Asurion. Behold, Asurion has 12 month warranty for phones disbursed. LG recommended contacting them, so I did. They filed the claim then and there and my new phone will be here Tuesday, free of charge. Thank goodness! I love the LG V10, but I wasn't about to pay for another one in just a few months time. Hoping the next one will last longer. 2017 has been a bad year for me and cell phones.

My daughter's phone did this. I contacted LG. They placed it under warranty with no cost to me other than the envelope I purchased to mail it to them in. I would highly suggest contacting LG.

I used the "tighten up the loose wifi chip [which is what usually causes the issue] with a piece of paper or credit card" as shown on youtube on my LG G3, which I guess is too old for LG to acknowledge. It also involves taking off the back of the case, so not a thing to do if you're under warranty. It worked for me for about 2 weeks now my phone's flaking out again. Will probably disasemble it and try again, and if that doesn't work, give up and replace it.

I had the exact same issue. A new battery cleared it right up. I didn't have to replace the phone.

My V10 just started this boot loop last night, 12/28. I contacted LG via chat this morning, 12/29, & I know my phone is at 14 months old so out of warranty. LG is repairing the V10 phones out of warranty, if you have the boot loop issue, free of charge. They are following the standard return policy for warranty repairs: submit the request through Request a Repair & have your phone/purchase info handy to submit also. Prepaid shipping label included & a turnaround time of about 2 weeks. Hope this helps someone.

That's great information.

What LG should do is fix the root cause on these devices as every model since the G4 (G5, G6, V10, V20 and V30) have experienced this issue.

We just had this problem and as a result of the treatment from the Verizon store I will shop elsewhere in the future. The reality is LG was forced via a lawsuit to admit they messed up with the design and they extended the warranty from the original 12 months to 30 months. The Verizon "company owned store" that I have shopped at for the past 20+ years told me that without an extended warranty there was nothing they could do. They then went on to sell me a new phone. Now I am not saying they have a legal obligation to tell me about what has happened with regards to the lawsuit, but if they want me as a customer they need to do more than an internet seller might do for me.
