First Marshmallow Bug Discovered on Galaxy S5

Although this isn't considered something major nor anything that hinders general operation of the device, it's still something that needs to bought to VZW's attention. Turns out, you can't change to any font other than the ones that came pre-installed in the phone. Downloaded fonts show up on the list you get when you go to Settings - Display - Font Style - Select Font, but when you try to select a downloaded and supposedly installed font, you get a Font Not Supported error.

None that I've been able to see so far, however the promise of increased battery life is something I'm still waiting to see. Stay tuned ...............

if you're not using it & you set it down it goes into "doze" which has improved batt life on my note5 with 601.

nothing can be adjusted on doze.

Tidbits

Doze only works when the phone isn't moving and the screen is off after a few minutes.

If you have wake locks doze won't enable either. The way some of these dev code their apps is terrible.

it's a good video but nothing of how to optimize doze with various apps & too much time on n......jobscheduler, is it an app or something in settings??

My S5 was updated to Marshmallow a couple days ago. Seemed things worked ok until this morning when I discovered that the phone will not mount properly to my Win 10 laptop via usb. When mounted I see the phone icon on the laptop but no content. A royal pain cus now I must remove the sd card and mount it with a card reader. Besides that pain in the rear, I can now only access info that is stored on the sd card.

My font stayed the same after the update. And its not the original font.

did you try another usb & select other than "charge only"??.

do you need to remove/replace the sd card to mount??

you can't see the card contents when in the phone?? but in the reader??

Prior to the Marshmallow update, when the S5 was connected to the laptop, I would see the phone as an external drive or device. Using the laptop I could click on that drive/device and would be able via the laptop see and navigate the file structure of the S5 and using the laptop be able to add or remove pics on the phone's internal memory or sd card.

Since Marshmallow the computer again shows up on the phone but now the computer cannot open it. To manage phone pictures using the computer I must now remove the sd card from the phone and plug it into a usb card reader attached to the computer to accomplish the same photo exchange.

The ability to manage files while on the phone (not logged in from computer) is same as prior to update. The difference is failure when trying to accessing the phone through my computer and nothing has changed on the computer.

Not sure what you meant by "charge only". I'm using the usb cable bundled with the phone, same as I was using prior to the update.

With Marshmallow, the USB mode default is charge only. Each time you connect the phone and computer with the USB cable, you'll need to pull down the notification shade and tap the notification that says Connected for Charging, then change it to Transferring Media Files.

HI there. I updated my s5 to marshmallow and I didn't encounter any of the bugs you mentioning, everything was perfect after the update, battery life is improved now . I suggest you should backup and format for device.

I'll bet your S5 was one of the first S5's to ever hit the stores. Those seem to be the only ones that have had no problem with any updates so far including LOLLIFLOP whereas LOLLIFLOP turned all the other S5's into bricks that owners wanted to smash with a hammer and throw against a wall.
