Can someone outline the pricing differences between going with a monthly device fee over 2 years vs a 2 year contract? I know Verizon is hiding something as it looks like the 2 year contract is a much better deal.
What the Vz store told me today -
Monthly Device Fee -
$20 - Line fee (voice / text)
$X - Data Plan
$Y - Monthly cost of the cell phone I select. This lasts 24 months or until the phone is paid for
2 Yr. Contract -
$20 - Line fee (voice / text)
$X - Data Plan
$0 - No monthly fee for my phone
* Pay $200 upfront for the phone and sign a 2-year contract.
Unless I am missing something, the 2 Yr. Contract is a MUCH better deal as the phone only cost me $200 rather than ~$650. The only down side is that I need the $200 up front and I am locked in to a contract with Big Red.
Am I missing anything? Does Vz throw some extra fees that never go away on that 2 Yr. Contract deal that really have me paying for that phone forever?
