Why is my LG V10 overheating?

I have had my phone for a little over a month now and about once a week since before my 14 day period has been over, my phone will get hot to the touch on both the power button and screen and I will have to take the battery out to get it to cool down. There are no error codes and I have done the device health check on the Verizon protection app. It says it is fine and when I took it into the store they said the same thing and that it was more than likely an anomaly and that it would probably never happen again. When I told them that I was dissatisfied before my return period was up they wanted to charge me $35 restocking fee for a phone that was obviously defective! If I had a choice I would never have stayed with Verizon after that! Can anyone help me either A) figure out what is wrong with my phone? or Help me figure out how to get a different one. I have never had this problem with any of my other phones before nor with a phone service provider.

call lg customer support. numbers on lg site...talk to them, say you want to RA your device, they will give you thru email prepaid shipping label and ra number, then pack device, send away, wait for reply on device progress after they get it, and you can track progress online. be ready for 2 week turnaround. thats best i suggest. been thru this twice. not once charged.

Let me say from experience that i owned a lg. it was the g3. regardless, the same issue happened to me twice, and to a point where thermal shutdown. 79C it became. almost 174F. ITS BEEN BACK TO LG TWICE. if only restock is issue, its better than a month w/o your phone while lg replaces it. I rid myself of it 2 weeks ago, and now on the EDGE happily. point is; pay now or double later waiting for repair.SOMEHOW the lgs do this. I do love the V10.ITS A MEGA MACHINE, and even the g5 has issues. I suggest you consider the former option restocking and be done.keep us updated on this.LOOK ON PLAYSTORE FOR CPU TEMP. THEN SEE IF IT CLOCKS OVER 65C. THATS BAD AT IDLE.same thing as a fever for us, we shutdown and need rebooting.

Amber_Crawford, we don’t want your phone to overheat on you. Since this issue started, have you made sure to shut down recently accessed apps when done using them? Are you using an Outlook.com or Hotmail.com email accounts on the phone? LG is stating those accounts can cause the overheating of the phone.

I always close out my apps and I don't have anything other than my gmail running on it.

You are killing your applications? How often are you doing this? Why are you not letting the OS manage its own resources?

please re-read my post to keep your device b4 you determine the device will survive b4 considering any arrs or resources; and make sure its NOT HARDWARE first.

Yes, they update all the time, well seems like it anyways. They only update over wifi.

Amber, I'd call customer service and have them swap the phone out. I use a V10 as well, and it does not get hot at all. That's definitely not normal at all.

I have but since my screen has a tiny crack by the front camera's they are wanting to charge me $300 on top of the price of the phone.

ive dealt with LG 2 times......i know the route you need to go as i did, and RMA it as i did, and not get charged, if defective on its own. i wish there was private messaging here.
