How Can I Bring My Number To A New Carrier?

Can you cancel your service through Verizon and switch to a new carrier with the same phone number? Ive had Verizon for over 5 years now but with this whole note 7 disaster has me furious and i just want to wash my hands of this mess especially since i was forced to send my note 7 back without having a back up device for a week now.

Don't cancel your Verizon service or you will lose your number.  If you want to keep  your number, and switch carriers, just go to the NEW carrier, and request a PORT of your Verizon number.  The porting process will cancel your Verizon account automatically.
