After the latest Marshmallow upgrade my PC still sees the Samsung but the folder is empty. Haven't done anything but allow the phone to upgrade.
With Marshmallow, the USB default is charge only. Pull down the notification shade, tap where it says USB Charging, and then change it to File Transfer. You'll need to do this every time you plug the phone into the computer.
