Had to pay taxes to swich out note 7

Had to pay $60.48 in tax to switch out my defective note 7 to the safe note 7. Should have been and,even swap. Rep said i would see an immediate refund to my bank card for the first tax i paid . Only thing showing on my bank card is where verizon took out $60.48. AGAIN.

I had to as well. $140.40 for 2 phones. The rep told me that after the recalled phones were checked in at the warehouse, that my money would be refunded.

Ensuring you receive your refund is important, Huggyjd28. Our community member provided some great insight. Let's clarify things a bit further. Did you get your exchange at a store, or via shipment? Were you exchanging Note 7 for Note 7, or did you take advantage of getting a different model temporarily?

Even exhange. Note 7 for note 7. Got the first note 7 online from Verizon. Did the exchange at Winter Haven Fl Verizon store. Even swap except for taxes I had to pay. Still no refund showing for the tax on the first note 7 i bought online.

I was also charged. Note 7 for Note 7 ordered originally online through the website.

I had to pay as well ~ $74. .... and then they say that it will get refunded when they get the old phone back....this is [Removed] ...it should be a one for one swap ...no charges......it is Verizon's way of holding onto hundreds of thousands of dollars of consumer's money for a month or more.... Can you say customer backlash!!!!!! wait until the news media gets this!!!!! Poorly handled Verizon!!!!!! I will make sure this gets in the media!!!!!

They got the old phone back. The verizon store kept it. I have no idea why i had to pay taxes for two phones when i only have one phone. I dont think i will see my refund on that tax anytime soon or if at all.

One thing I have noted is that refunds back always take longer than when the amount is charged and taken out of your account. Keep an eye out, but it is almost certain refunds won't hit your accounts until the usual 7-10 business day schedule.

My local store at least was swapping out phone for phone so not sure who or what is driving the tax collection..state, local, simple standard procedure at some stores?

Though mine will be new, I still have to pay 80.oo for the phone. You folks should not have to pay twice.

I could not believe it when I was told I had to pay tax again. I was told Verizon views this as a new purchase and tax needs to be paid and will be refunded when they receive the phone. Is this the same for ATT and Sprint? How are they handling the recall?
