Droid X vs Fascinate

We have an upgrade coming up, but am having hard time deciding between DX and Fascinate. This will be our first Android phones. I am hard on all things (tend to drop stuff), so I am leaning towards DX, but have heard problems with buggy software. I like the Fascinate, but am not fond of having the camera button on the screen, and not on the phone. (am a shutter bug). Am also not sure if I like the actual push buttons at the bottom of the DX, or the touch buttons on the Fascinate. We also don't have a great signal where we are located (have to stand in the kitchen to talk), so which one has better signal reception? Questions, questions, questions! :smileyhappy:

I was trying to decide between the 2 myself not long ago, I went with the DX. I really liked the look and feel of the Fascinate but 1. It only has a 5 mp camera, the DX an 8. 2. The DX has more memory. 3. You are locked into BING as your default search engine with the Fascinate. 4. The Fascinate does not come preloaded with the Google navigator, it's default is the VZ navigator. Ultimately its a matter of choice, I can't comment on which device has better reception.

Reception comes from phone towers in your area if your device is not bringing in good signal update the PRL by dialing *228 option 2.

I had the Droid X for about 30 days before trading it in for the Fascinate. The Droid X seems to have a slightly stronger signal, the internet was slightly faster through 3G, the GPS lock was WAY faster. I haven't had signal issues with the Fascinate, I just notice more calls having some break up where I had NONE of that with the DX. The GPS on the Fascinate is horrible, the DX locked almost immediately where the Fascinate may take 5 minutes (no exaggeration). I don't use the GPS much, but I hope it gets fixed with the Froyo update. The reason I traded the Droid X was the size and weight of the phone, I refuse to wear a belt clip and the DX was too big in my pocket. I was also experiencing some issues with the DX since the Froyo update (lock-ups and Exchange email not auto syncing). The Fascinate is about the same length and width as the DX, but it doesn't have the camera hump and is a LOT lighter. I have no issues with it in my pocket at all. The camera is faster and better on the Fascinate, megapixels are a marketing ploy, a camera phone does not need 8 megapixels. My HTC Ozone took better pictures than both of these and it is a 2 megapixel camera. The screen on the Fascinate is awesome! Battery life between the two is very comparable, no battery life issues with either one. I liked the Exchange Email and Calendar widgets on the DX better than the Fascinate, but that's about all I miss from that phone. I've installed Launcher Pro on my Fascinate and it makes this a great phone! As most say, you can't lose with either phone, but having owned both I much prefer the Fascinate over the DX.
