The clould vs. Google photo

I just replaced my note 7 with an s7 edge. I had my photos save on google photo and on the cloud. All of my photos were on google and when i opened the cloud. Not all of my photos are available. I can see my photos on google photo on my pc but not on my edge s7

I don't use private cloud services.  If you change carriers the contents are lost to you.
