when will NEWER note 7 be avail to swap to existing customers?

when will NEWER note 7 be avail to swap to existing customers? I got my phone mailed to me from verizon, will i have the option to have one mailed to me or swap out in verizon store? will there be compensation to existing customers who just want to swap out for a newer note 7?

Great question Skycries57, I'm curious how this will work too. I also pre ordered 2 Note 7's and had them shipped to me.

It'd be great if a Verizon higher up could tell us what our specific situation entails. Do we need to contact Verizon and send the phone back to them? Are they going to ship us the new Note 7's prior to us sending in these current Note 7's? Or, if it's more convenient for us, can we go to our nearest Verizon corporate store and get an exchange for a new Note 7? If so, do we have to do the foot work and keep going into the store and see if new stock is in? Or might they be notifying us via text or email once new stock is in?

Sure wish we could get some clarification and concise steps for each situation for those who have a Note7 and want to exchange it for a new Note7 (those who bought it in store vs those who ordered it online and how each goes about receiving a new Note7 or if it doesn't matter and we all just go about it the same way).

Hopefully it's not a big ordeal trying to get a newer safer Note 7, the process should be made as simple and painless as possible for us so we don't spend the next few weeks trying to figure out when, where, how and who we need to speak to, in order to receive a new Note7, one without known battery issues.

I've yet to have much free time since the recall, from work or kiddos to be able to get on the phone and ask these questions, without being bothered. I'd like to be able to provide my full attention to whomever I talk with over the phone so I understand what the proper protocol is to make this exchange as time efficient and easy as possible. So it would be a great time saver if someone from Verizon sees this and would kindly try and answer these questions for those of us who have the Note7 and simply want a new Note7 exchange. Thank you for any insight in advance.

I sure hope that Verizon will be shipping me a replacement phone, just like they did originally. That is the only way we can cable the old & new phones together for a smooth migration at a time convenient to us using Samsung's Smart Switch app, which does a great job. I would not want to be forced to go to a Verizon store to make a swap, and either not have the opportunity for cableing phones together or be forced to do the cable migration in the store, which can take a while & would be very distracting & rushed - not good.

I spoke to Verizon customer service yesterday with same question. Verizon was kind enough to put me on hold while they called Samsung. Samsung told her that we would be able to take the Note 7's to the nearest Verizon and swap it out for a new Note 7 and get a $25 gift card to be used in the store.

That sounds reasonable, but the question of when still exists. I understand Verizon, or even Samsung, may not know when new N7s will be available. Given that, the Sept. 30 deadline should be changed to 30 days after new ones become available. It would also be nice to be able to get something else to use in the meantime. I don't have an extra phone laying around to use, traded in the N5 to get the N7. Just using the suspect N7 until exchange is available.

Considering all of the issues with different answers from Verizon agents. I would be curious if Samsung would have a list of affected phone "lots" so when we get the new ones we can be sure it wont explode. I am positive they have this list for quality purposes. However getting publicized is the issue.

I think that would be the only way I would trust my new phone from any retail store.

I spoke to my local Verizon store a little while ago and was told that when they get the new note7's , I could come in and exchange.

My concern is with current note7 owners being first to have the new ones., I asked if they were making some kind of list that I needed to get on so that their recalls would be serviced first and the answer was no. I think local stores should have such a list and Verizon should text or email us when the note7's are available. They're really dropping the ball on this recall.

I went to a Verizon store today to see what I had to do as far as exchanging my Note 7 for the newer one when it came available. The associates there didn't seem very knowledgeable about what was going on with the recall. I finally ended up speaking with the manager who gave me the answer "You have 30 days from original purchase date of phone to return it, after that you're stuck with phone". Which confused me since I thought I had till September 30th. I asked about how I would know when the store received the updated version, and he pretty much had no answer for me. I called customer service, and their response was "You have till September 30th to exchange phone for either a different device, or same model if available." After the 30th I would be stuck with phone. Recall or not. I was then told to exchange it before the 30th if there is no Note 7's available by that time, that way it'd give me an extra 14 days to return it. Or I could just buy insurance for the old Note 7 and hope for the best. I think Verizon really dropped the ball on this, and how they are handling this recall is horrible. Very disappointed.

Soo, got new update email saying swap bad note 7 asap w samsung j phone while we wait for newer note 7, ooorr return bad note 7 and get s7/s7 edge and get refunded dif and 25$ in store gift card.

All good but will i still be paying 42$ mo for note I don't have or pay 25$ mo for cheap samsung J phone? Will newer note 7s be avail within month? **BIG SIGH** airlines also now saying NO Note 7 will be allowed to be turned on while in flight!!?? 5 hr BORING flight to the east coast, great..

Yes, according to the attached article, it appears Samsung will have a list of affected phones. New, non-affected, phones will have a black square on the label, and an extra sticker with a blue "S" in a white circle to be able to tell that it's new stock. It looks like new phones will begin to ship to Australia on Sept. 21. This could cut it close to the Sept. 30th deadline Verizon has set. I can only imagine they will extend the deadline, especially if this becomes an official recall.

For what its worth, I chatted with samsung support on their website and asked when the Note 7 will be available for purchase. I do not own one but have an upgrade coming up on the 18th and would like the note 7. They said Verizon will have them available on Friday the 16th. Take it with a grain of salt but maybe they have the correct info.

spoke to a verizon rep last night and she basically said that its "first come first serve" on the newer note 7s. previous owners who swapped their note 7s for something else WHILE WE WAIT, DO NOT have priority to be first in line and WILL NOT be notified when they come in, whatt!!!???

If you ask me, that is sooo un professional. I didn't even get a text,call or personal email explaining what I have and what to do,etc. Just a generic email from samsung saying turn it in now!

Verizon didn't even contact me. I'm seriously thinking of the apple 7 now, verizon and samsung is really upsetting me and very disappointed in their lack of customer service and mediocre communication to their customers.

Remember, this is a Samsung problem, not a Verizon problem. Samsung isn't handling this in the best way as they probably should have gone to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, making it a mandatory recall, as opposed to a voluntary one (note, they are now working with the CPSC). That may have made a difference in how the carriers handled it. "Voluntary" means it's up to us to do what we feel is right. So, with the responsibility on our shoulders, and having received the texts from Samsung, we need to keep checking in with Verizon to make sure we get our "new, non-explosive" phones in a timely fashion.

I spoke with someone at my local Verizon store and was a little surprised to see they knew less than I did about the whole scenario, what Samsung is in the process of doing, and when they'd receive new stock. They were very flexible though and willing to work with me no matter when the new stock arrived. I was offered another phone and told I could exchange again for the new Note 7 whenever they arrive. All I need to do is keep checking in with them to see when they do arrive, because right now, they just don't know when that will be. Their estimate was two weeks, but it was more of a guess than anything else.

I'm just glad Samsung is replacing devices and Verizon is being flexible with their initial statement and letting people exchange twice regardless of when the new phones arrive...at least at my local store. I don't mind taking on some of the responsibility to call the store and check stock once a week. Heck, if my local store sold 1000 units, it'd take them weeks to reach everyone, so by me calling them, i might get a new phone much faster than having to wait for someone there to call me, or if I had to go wait in line with all other 999 customers. Nevertheless, I'm like everyone else and can't wait to get a "safe" Note 7. Just accept that you may need to do a little of the legwork since this isn't, per se, a "carrier problem".

I believe that for all of their high-profile fumbling of late that Samsung has lost the initiative. I still have my Note7 and it is lying in its cardboard tomb waiting for me to turn it in. Originally I planned to wait until the new and approved 7s were released but I don't even want a Note7 any longer. I will be pleased to make do with my S7 Edge and the upcoming LG V20; whenever it pleases LG to announce a release date. Something funky is happening with the V20 too and I wonder if it has a battery supply/construction problem.

I was told this morning by a VZW Rep that the stores would have the replacement Note7s in stock as soon as Monday(9/19) and no later than Wednesday(9/21). A few more days of waiting....

I believe that a confirmed reservation as to when we could surely obtain the New Note7 (I've changed my tune with regard to turning mine in and waiting for the V20) at a physical location would be a nice gesture; Corporate location or otherwise. By now I'm hopeful that concerned parties are aware of this situation.

I went into my local verizon store today any they told me they will have the new Note 7s in on Monday, Sept. 19th.

I left for a 5-day vacation on 9/21/16, the day Verizon expected to have replacement Note7 phones available, so I called them on 9/22 & arranged for a shipment on 9/23 to be delivered today 9/27. I did not receive any tracking info by email as was promised, and now they tell me it wasn't shipped & don't know why.

Shipping status from the link in the order confirmation email still shows expected ship date as 9/23. I made a point to be home to sign for it, but I will not go to a store to exchange my phone, and would rather be temporarily charged for a new one if necessary. They reluctantly agreed to ship, giving me up to 20 days to return the recalled Note7 with a shipping label to be included with the new one, but I had to first threaten to return for a full refund & go to another carrier.

So, Verizon has dropped the ball again. (I say again, because they butchered Samsung's Note7 settings menu to begin with).

There will be no shipping label with the replacement device. We received ours yesterday and when I called to ask where the label was, they told me they ordered special boxes to ship the recalled Note 7s back and the boxes are not in stock yet. They will mail those boxes out to the customers when they are available. Therefore they are extending the return time for the recalled phones.

Yes, I have an order in, but I am increasingly considering a full refund instead & switching carriers, since a replacement was not shipped as promised & I hear Vzw is selling them to any customer they can instead of taking care of recalls first (because Vzw apparently cares more about its profits than its customers). After nobody called me back with a status & calling again on the 28th, and referencing my order [Removed] (loc: E183501) I was told Verizon was out of stock & black would not be in stock until 5 Oct & blue on 12 Oct.

I guess I would have had to postpone my vacation on the 21st when phones became available, in order to get one. It would have been a better vacation if I had not had to spend time on the phone with Vzw on 22 Sep getting an order placed, instead of enjoying the beach. And it didn't work anyway, so a double waste of precious time.

Why couldn't Samsung have just continued to use replaceable batteries like my old Note3 has?
