Can I switch from a VZW 2 year contract (expires 7/13/2017) to a VZW prepaid plan? Anyone have experience with this?
You certainly can. You will have to pay the early termination fee as prescribed by the contract. Even though you intend to stay with Verizon, you are still breaking the contract before it is over.
