East Coast Internet Slowness

Anyone else notice that connections to east coast sites is slow while anything from the west is normal? I am in Baltimore and when I run a speed test (Speakeasy or Speedtest.net) from cities such as DC, NYC, Atlanta, etc, I am getting 1Mbps or less download speed. If I run the same test between here and San Fran, LA, Seattle, etc, I get normal speeds (15+ Mbps). Is there a major pipeline down here on the East Coast?

It's been pretty slow/spotty for me too as far as connectivity. I'm located in Virginia. It's been dragging since this afternoon.

Well If my double post isn't telling enough. Yeah today's been terrible. I've been having to reload and getting disconnected from remote gaming servers for most of the day. Came here to see if more people were experiencing the issue as well. Looks like I'm not completely alone.

It would be nice if they had a place we could check and tell us if there is an outage or an issue...

If you call, they just run you through the usual steps, give you the "I haven't heard of any issues today" line...

I've always had rock solid connection for the past couple years I've had FIOS.

The past week has been a nightmare trying to keep a connection. Online games is where I really notice it, constant disconnects and kick outs. Today has been the worst by far, though.

Not sure what is going on. Fellow neighbor is claiming same thing. Speed is terrible.

Getting your same issue PA. I've been getting kicked and slow login issues all day. You're right this past week or so has been pretty spotty with connectivity with today being the worst of it.

Horribly slow in Virginia for the last couple of hours. TV seems affected too. Unable to reliably change channels or view VOD.

This is rough, especially when you're used to 25/25 internet connection.

I had a total interruption at 8:45 PM, and my connection has been painfully slow since. Speed tests are anywhere from 128k to 1M.

8:30pmish I noticed alot of "Lag" in the internet. Now i'm getting severly low download and upload speeds. Download worse than upload. To me it seems like a server side problem. Maybe the thunderstorms in the area affected the Verizon servers? Idk. Wish they would give us and update.

Would also like to note that I've never had a problem thus far with any part of the FIOS service. I'm experiencing no problems with the phone or T.V., they are still working as intended.

I've been having issues since I got home around 5PM EDT today. Had a total outage around 8:45. Been on the phone (on hold) with FiOS support for 48 minutes.....still on hold.

I'd say they are definitely having some kind of issue in the Baltimore area.

First off, Goodluck getting through to them in a timely manner. Just ran a /tracerrt and lemme tell ya. Its def server side. More than likely they are already working to fix this problem, which in turn means they are waking people up and paying them overtime to come out and fix it. It will take a while more than likely.....i'm guessing its time to hit up the red box.

I live in the DC area and I've been getting awful speeds lately. Last night, I went to speedtest.net and the results were: 350ms, .09 down, .18 up.

Yes. .09 down and .18 up. I pay for 35/35 so this is disgraceful. Checking the network status page, it keeps saying that Verizon is working hard to fix the outage by 6/xx/2011 15:03 EST. But whenever it gets close to that time, all they do is up the day by one.

It's been like this since Thursday, and the speeds fluxuate so fortunately it's not at .09/.18 often, just sometimes. They're lucky they hooked me on with a 2 year contract or I'd be gone.

What is the link to that status page, I would really love to see/use it!

My speeds are back, but I'm still getting massive packet loss. I would contact support, but I don't feel like switching back to the craptiontek router.

Click FiOS Services Affected by Weather and go through the prompts. I'm not sure if that only updates due to weather related outages, but it's better than nothing.

I live in NJ and for the past week have been getting speed up to 20mbps download and 6mbps upload. Very strange that when you connect to a west coast server your speeds are fine.

I've been having terrible connection speeds with FIOS lately,especially on facebook.I don't think it's the servers though but instead is most likely the shoddy equipment verizon has given us as we've been having problems with the TV boxes too ever since day one of their installation.

I don't know about anyone else but I'd rather go back to direct tv for television & dial up AOL for internet because FIOS is just crap & NOT worth the money we pay for it each month.

Excluding Facebook which is having issues on every ISP with slowness and latency, can you tell us in detail as to what issues you are having with FiOS? A speed test and a ping test would be appreciated, and details on what issues you're having with the STBs would be nice as well. Verizon employees do read these forums, so being descriptive helps big time.

Going to add to this thread as I have been having problems for about the past week or longer. If it remains this way, I will give support a call to see if I can find out what's going on. I'm normally 35/35 if not better. Been sitting on 0.5-0.75 Mbps down.
