Verizon FIOS in NYC (10005)

I'm having weird issues with Verizon in NYC. I can get to this page just fine. I can get to hotmail and google just fine (not cached - live up-to-date information) but I cannot click through the google links that pop up. I cannot get to reddit as another example.

Is there something with DNS or something else going on in the area?

Having apparent DNS issues over in Buffalo. Also using FiOS.

Some websites work fine, others, including reddit, do not resolve.

My Verizon phone is also running into the same DNS issues on mobile data.

I'm having the same problem in STATEN ISLAND (10303). I can't connect to reddit and other sites like Twitch.tv

Orange County, NY here. Same problem, it kicked in about half an hour ago. I was watching some streams on Twitch and all of a sudden it just dropped connection.

EDIT: Shortly after my post I noticed it appears to be working normally again.

EDIT2: Websites appear to be coming back up slowly but the issue isn't completely fixed, still unable to view Twitch streams for example.

We felt the issue on Verizon Wireless, DSL, and on FiOS here in Buffalo. I couldn't remote into my PC from work either. Seems like something on the backbone was a bit unhappy. A peer dropped, router went down, BGP Sessions failing, could be anything.

Having this issue in NJ as well. I don't think it's a DNS issue, I'm using GoogleDNS and running a tracert to twitch.tv correctly resolves the name, however it times out across the board.

With Twitch, the actual website resolves but the streaming appears to be down completely.

The frustrating thing is that VZ is STILL (as usual) not owning this issue. People in my other forum are posting that they've called VZ and were told they know nothing of an outage, yet all over the net (including downdetector.com's Verizon page) people from all over are confirming this issue. Some websites totally down, some partially displaying (probably because some elements are served by different servers), and some websites up. Most of my email is working but not my German email account.

Outages happen; it's the refusal to own the problem and be communicative about efforts to fix it that tick us off.

they won't confirm an outage because their policy on credits towards your bill relies on an outage being reported. they'd rather send everybody new routers and restart your ONT before they would ever consider stating there is an outage. They are the worst.
