Verizon/Yahoo

How do I get Yahoo Mail OFF my Verizon email account. I want Verizon mail and I don't want it going through YAHOO. Doesn't anyone know where that setting is?

BTW I still have my lag problem... haven't played my game in a week now. Never mind monitoring the server I play on, I can even play as a single player

Starting about a month ago I apparently stopped receiving email messages from Yahoo email users. Well, not completly stopped, but I only receive about one out of every four emails from a sender with an username@yahoo.com mail account. I have attempted contacting techincal support about this with zero responsiveness.

Is anyone else seeing this problem? I've included a portion of the ultimately received non-delivery notice that is received by the sender.

This is frustrating because I do get some emails but not all...and I have no way of knowing that I'm not getting the email. This has happened with more than one Yahoo email user. There is something with the Verizon mail servers that is simply not responding to the Yahoo messages in a timely manner. The below emails are received by the user sometimes three days after they sent the original message.

Can anybody help?

Wow, I couldn't believe someone wrote about this. The timing is the same - very recent. Here I am a yahoo email account and I have found several instances where friends arent receiving my emails and then i saw the common thread was they are all verizon users !! Awaiting any other help...?

after you've added yahoo to the acct, it is not easy to get rid of. First your stuck with it for a minimum of 6 months. After 6 months, you can contact Verizon tech support and ask them to enable portal switching on your email acct. Once that is done, you start by saying that you want to switch to AOL. You follow the process until the point where AOL starts asking you for usernames and passwords. You then cancel the process at this time. Now you have no portal partner with Verizon.

Complicated and difficult to do. A total idiotic way to handle it but thats the way they have it set up.

Now personally, I'd leave it on yahoo as it has far fewer problems than the plain verizon webmail, but thats just me.

I think you're right. It sounds like a lot of work. I think I'm going to think about before I do it. I've had verizon for 3 years now I like everything up till now and I got a lag problem on the internet and yahoo mail crapping out on me.

I'll give yahoo/verizon another chance for now.....

With the switch to Verizon mail from Yahoo, I can no longer receive email into my Outlook 2007 mailbox. I have made the changes required to the Incoming and Outgoing mail server addresses (change "incoming.yahoo.verizon.net" to "incoming.verizon.net" & same for Outgoing). I have changed the outgoing server port to 587. Despite following all the Verizon specified changes, I continue to get the "Type your username and password" pop-up over and over. I can log onto the Webmail application and see my emails fine.

What do I need to do to get Outlook working with the new Vz setup?

For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "fakeacct@verizon.net" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.

The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
Incoming Server: incoming.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes
Username: fakeacct
Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): No
Port: 110

Outgoing Server: outgoing.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): No
Port: 25 (although 587 also works.)

4 possible issues

A) you have a setting wrong... somegirl provided all of the correct settings

C) there is an issue with your account.... contact Technical support

D) there is an issue with outlook.... unlikely, but possible..... Remove/delete any and all emails from the outbox, close outlook, reboot your PC, and try again.

Dear Mr. Mudpuppy,

Are you using a main verizon.net account, or a sub-account? My main account was transferred over to verizon.net on Saturday; however, none of my subaccounts were transferred. They are still available under the old yahoo.com access / pop3 settings. I have not seen or heard anything from Verizon.net regarding what the problem is with the sub-accounts. This has been a poorly executed transition, but that is what you get when you outsource everything to India.

We got the switch over the weekend. I set up Outlook (2003) as required. Only my "master" userid seems to have been switched (properly). I have two sub-accounts, one for my wife and anther for my rental properties and neither of them can even log in via the verizon.com screens, and the mail will only show up using the "discontinued" yahoo service. (When I changed those sub-accounts back to the the old (verizon.yahoo) settings, the mail comes into outlook as I would expect. Has anyone else noticed that sub-accounts are having issues?

Same issues here. Ya think if they were gonna switch they would have had the system ready to accept the changes.

Apparently my email retrieval service with Verizon Yahoo has ended. I have gone to Trueswitch to change over my account but where do I find my emails in the meantime? My email address is used with my business and I have NO access to my emails at this point which I find infuriating not to mention extremely inconvenient. I have emails out there SOMEWHERE in cyberspace that I need to view!

This is our problem too. All of a sudden last night we have NO access to email received! We can send but not receive. Please some one answer this questions! What do we need to do with this NEW verizon/yahoo to get our mail??????

In the last three days it has been impossible to get any FIOS internet support over the phone or online.

One night the internet was down for several hours without any announcement for scheduled maintenance.

Then on March 27th they started migrating the email from yahoo.verizon.net to the new verizon.net email.

That worked only for the primary accounts. Today finally they migrated the subaccounts and we could get email on those.

Still there is no way to manage the subaccounts and all the links for email setting end up to a dead end.

Does anybody know when they will complete this messy migration ?

It has been impossible to get any support on the phone or online, the support web site links are not working or get to obsolete pages or procedures.

It looks to me that the the whole upgrade was not planned and they are just fixing the bugs as we go.

There was just an email about this migration one day before it happened, but no details on how the new system was going to work or when it would be fully operational.

Any idea ?

Been having the same issues but still have not received any emails from anyone since last friday the 26th. unable to contact nay help since can't even send emails. This is crap and they know it. If not fixed by tuesday the 30th going to change accounts and report them as a horriable business

Same problem here and it is really **bleep** on Verizon's part to do crap like this. Can't even get a hold of any support to get answers. Haven't received any mail since friday and who knows if anyone is receiving. They need to get their act together fast as going to switch to someone can trust Time Warner has a good connections for DSl so going there

Has anyone tried to logon to Verizon.net and select the my account tab. On that page you should ge able to see and manage your account and sub accounts. This is seperate from any previous yahoo page.

Also you can try to log onto the webmail.verizon.net with the sub account user name and password.The new server for POP3 should be incoming.verizon.net with no yahoo. If your accounts have truly been moved.

The Verizon site is certainly NOT user friendly and after searching for an hour I finally found where I can access my email

JK58, I notice from your location that you are in Illinois. So I assume you are on DSL. I dont know about the DSL side but I do know that the FIOS in that general area was sold off to Frontier. Frontier just took over this month. Maybe it has something to do with that? I know that Verizon has contractual obligations when it comes to supporting Frontier until they get up and running, but I dont know if Yahoo has the same obligations. That may be the issue. Now that that general area is Frontier (assuming that IL is part of that) then it may be yahoo blocking access if they dont have a contract with Frontier.

I've been trying to move my email to the new verizon.net site from my verizon yahoo site, without any luck the past couple of days......either the verizon site is down, has errors, or won't accept any support questions. Today, I was finally able to get through to the Trueswitch page to move my email address.......but it tells me "unable to authenticate" my username and password. Strange, because that username and password is working just fine on either the Yahoo home page or the Verizon Yahoo home page. I don't understand why it won't work. I'm just about ready to dump the whole Verizon.net email thing and just move everything over to a hotmail or live email server. Has anyone else had this problem? Irritating to say the least.

Also, I've noticed that my Verizon In-Home Agent has stopped working....it now says "for verizon customers only". I just got FIOS services about a month ago, and it worked just fine until a couple of days ago.....

I am in Oregon, and of course we're one of the states that has received approval for the go-ahead acquisition by Frontier....something tells me that these problems are related.....

I have verizon/yahoo for my e-mail. Since Friday I have been unable to receive my e-mail messages. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can log into my primary Verizon account, where my billing info is, but I cannot access the e-mail that I have been receiving online through Yahoo. verizon.net does not seem to recognize my account or password.

I see other posts on this topic but no answers yet, so I thought I would add one to the pile in hopes that Verizon will see this and do something about it.

Adding that I have been accessing the mail directly online and this is not an "outlook" or other mail client question.

I agree with you, that is most likley the cause of yout issue.

That does not work, you can manage your verizon account, but not your email account and subaccounts.

You cannot change password or create a new email subaccount. All the links for those functions are broken.

The old email has been switched from yahoo to verizon and if you use outlook express you have to update the servers:

Change from incoming.yahoo.verizon.net to incoming.verizon.net

and from outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net to outgoing.verizon.net

That's about all you can do for now, I could not find any way to add subaccounts or change my current email passwords.

Let me know if you see any way around this.

Contrast this to a billing problem we just had with DirecTV; one call, about 15 minutes, everything fixed and the entire process was easy and the rep offered tons of help. And because thier glitch stopped auto-payment somehow, they threw in a month service for free.

Hopefully the web interface will work with the sub accounts, too. "there is an issue with outlook.... unlikely, but possible" Hahahaha, Outlook is its own issue. I'm not going to use it.

Does anyone from Verizon actually ever come into these forums?

Yahoo has probably been discontinued in your area (as it was in mine) to move your account go to this address and it should move your mail and contacts to the verizon.net client

My parents across town also have FIOS internet, and have Verizon Yahoo......they were able to switch to the Verizon webmail without issue. Strange why so many of us have not been able to. I hope Verizon is working on this "bug", or whatever ailment is causing this issue.

I have the same problem and according to a FIOS teach if you switched from Windows Live, which I did my mail now has to go through Yahoo. Fortunately I use Outlook most of the time, but when traveling will now have to use Yahoo. My advise is not to switch to Yahoo and you will still be able to receive you mail just by going to Verizon site. Just wish FIOS had left things alone. I no longer have any access to the SPAM controls on FIOS and the ones on yahoo are worthless!!

That is, can I use the Verizon Webmail option when it's WORKING??? I've had problems getting into my email every day since the change from using Verizon Yahoo.

I have 2 e-mails in my account and when I tried to send an e-mail to myself from my work e-mail it bounced back saying my e-mail account was full! I did finally talk to a number of people at Verizon (which took 40 minutes of being passed around and put on hold) . When I finally did talk to someone they said they would put in a trouble ticket, would not give me the ticket number as a reference and said to chek back in 2 days. Meanwhile I set up a g-mail account and am having all my stuff transfered to that account. I have never liked Verizon when I had them as my wireless carrier and I like them even less now. As soon as I can get a minute (after Pascha) I will see if I can find another carrier for my internet service. I also believe Veizon should not be chargin me for these days that I have not been able to us the e-mail service.

I'm In Idaho and can say that the verizon switch isn't working. still unable to get any mail on the verizon/yahoo page so have switched back to AOL. had no problems using trueswutch to change everything over. also am getting rid of verizon dsl altogether since they are a headache. Going to Time Warner for all dsl needs. Aol retrived all my lost emails from verizon so verizon really messed this up for themselves.

Bear in mind that ALL of your folders in verizon.net count against your mail quota. This includes any custom folders that might have been created by the True Switch program, and the trash folder.

This is a big nightmare!!!! I never thought that verizon would let customer hanging with no help. I have called so many times and they cannot solve the problem. I mistakently chose a link as verizon/yahoo to change portal, and I could not undo. I was using verizon portal before, but now I cannot access my verizon emails. It has been since 3/15/2010 (today is 4/2) and they have not been able to fix it. They said "48 hours..waiting." Finally, an agent from India tells me they screw up when switching the account and they could not undo it. They sent me to what they call "experts" and tried to remotely access my computer to do the same micky mouse taks eveyrone else has tried. With all this technology you would expect that a dinasour as verizon would have a back-up plan, but obviously they do not....talk about an image, obviously they are not concerned about it. It is discusting. Smiley Mad

Just spent 73 minutes on the phone trying to remind verizon that my ticket (which they do not provide) should still be opened. When I called, the machines suggest that I had called before and my issue was solved!!! What!!!? I'm still having problems. I invited them to send an email to my account and see the results.... and they are not willing to do that because they know they really screw up on the swtich from verizon/msn to verizon/yahoo portal. Man Surprised

We live in Central Illinois and are having the same issues. I was hoping to see a Verizon person comment on this thread, but guess thats not going to happen. Looks like I'll be switching to a gmail or some other type account so if Verizon keeps up this kind of service, it will be easier to switch. I have never had issues with Verizon before and I'm hoping this is not an indicator of things to come...

OMG, I am so glad to have found this site. I have been in agony since this devilish switch. I did switch back; but the damage has already been done. I,too, have transferred most of my mail to a Google account. When I open Yahoo or Verizon, that one is rare, one or the other just automatically switches itself to the other mail account. I get a wacky message telling me that it has been noted that I logged out of the account, or something nutty like this.

I have resorted to opening Internet Explorer and Firefox at the same, opening Yahoo in one and Verizon, if it will open, in the other browser.

This is the most insane situation ever! Until now I have been very satisfied with Verizon although it runs rather slowly... Now, not so much!

I have tried that several times and it takes me to the Yahoo account, not the Verizon email. Sometimes, the Verizon email opens... but there is no rhyme or reason to it. I have no idea what triggers it to work at any given time... it's all trial and error.

This whole migration is very poorly planned. The directives are not clear. I have a question. Am I to understand that in order to have my e mail and homepage the same I will need to make verizon.com my homepage? This will mean that I will loose all my current events such as news, weather, stocks, etc.? So I will have to access 2 seperate sites to check my email and have a functional toolbar and news? When they move the contacts and e mails does this also moved the folders that I have established? I can not get a direct answer from them. They keep referring back to their directive announcement that was posted and have not answered the question. Can anyone please enlighten me? I thank you for any directives you can give me.

In my area of Seattle, we are scheduled to be migrated over from Yahoo to Verizon email servers by April 15. I have checked my 7 odd accounts every few days from the first notice untill now. 5 of 7 have been migrated to date. As my deadline is fast approaching, I am thinking it natural to worry if the remaining accounts will be migrated in time, so I call support . . .

That was an experience! - I was on for an hour with some poor sod, and then his supervisor - neither of whom could tell me anything about my status, or the likelyhood of getting the last two accounts migrated. Both techs implored me to 'believe' that it would happen, after finding no fault with my settings. At the end of the marathon call, the supervisor volunteered that in fact, it is his team who is responsible for the migration! - so in this case, you have the fox guarding the henhouse.

As the minutes tick by, I will get closer to loosing my account on the yahoo.verizon servers and no comfortably closer to gaining them on the verizon servers. I have looked through other peoples accounts and my experience is not unique. What we are seeing is the dark side of commodity services - you outsource to get the cost down and down, down goes the service.

I'm not sure what is going to happen to my accounts. I suspect that in the worst case, I will have to recreate two verizon subaccounts and I will only bounce email for a few hours, but my confidence in Verizon has gotten a permanent dent.
