Missing texts in account activity

Question

I know this has been addressed before but it's mostly about phones. I have a Samsung Galaxy and use Google messaging . I've been told that Google messages are not SMS and that's why I don't see them in my account activity but texts with some of my contacts ALWAYS show in activity and some of them NEVER show in activity.  In both cases, some iPhone users are always in activity,  some iPhone users are never in text activity. It also doesn't matter who the carrier is.  Can someone please explain this? It also doesn't matter whether WiFi is on or off. It's very frustrating.

Great question. It could be that the exchange with certain contacts can be happening in SMS as there could be an issue causing RCS chats to not work, which fall back to regular text messages. When using Google Messages, the typing space will let you know if you are communicating in RCS or in a regular SMS message. ~Peter

If the texts are in RCS format, that is going under your data usage and not texting usage.  The text logs would be for SMS and MMS texts.  Depending on what texting app someone is using and whether or not their phone can use RCS, if they are always using the older SMS/MMS, then their texts will show up in the texting logs.  If they are never in the texting logs, it's because they're texting in RCS.
