Samsung cloud backup/restore suddenly missing?

My s24U had Samsung Cloud. All my data is backed up into it. I can see it on the Samsung Cloud website. It's a default function on all Samsung phones built into the settings but it's also a standalone app and it's also viewable on the website.

BIT, now, suddenly, my S24u is missing the settings under account. And the app is disabled. It's just dead. So I can't restore my data. My data is locked in the cloud & unobtainable to restore!

VZW says it's Samsung. Samsung says it's VZW. I'm inclined to believe VZW is at fault. It was there, the s24u backup that I can see online proves it existed and worked. And my s20+ also has it and I can see it & it works fine. But my s24u suddenly has Samsung Cloud app disabled (yes, it is on my s24u but it's disabled and you can't access it or use it).

What happened??

Samsung Cloud was discontinued in 2021. If there is no way to turn the app back on with your S24 (I'm wondering if the Samsung Cloud snuck in with Smart Switch or some other data transferral app when you originally changed over to the S24). Otherwise, the only other thing I can think of is you'd have to activate your old S20 (again, sorry!) and get to the Samsung Cloud from there and sync it to OneDrive, then you should be able to access your Samsung Cloud content via OneDrive from any device.

Thanks.... But it's not actually a work around. In fact, it doesn't rectify this issue.

the app IS on the phone but not accessible. It's disabled. You can't interact with it at all.

You can see I just did a backup on the 26th so we KNOW the function was there and now it's gone

But notice the Samsung Cloud (backup, restore, sync) are gone

This whole Samsung cloud retirement is absolutely positively not true.

This app was on my phone last week and that's proven by the fact I have an s24 ultra backup in Samsung cloud and that can only happen if the app is working and functioning.

I have the app right now on my s20 plus and it works perfectly.

I have the app on another older Samsung and it works perfectly and is active.

I've spent several hours on the phone with Samsung and they absolutely positively show you and tell you how to use the Samsung cloud. They even have current information on their website about it. Verizon will even link to it.

So I don't know where this whole deprecation of Samsung cloud came from but it simply not true. I used it just last week on this phone. I used it today on another phone. It's active and working on another phone that's in a drawer right now because I checked.

There's something more going on here and I think it has to do with the e-sim Verizon sent me.

PS - OneDrive ONLY backs up images. Which is nice. But what it doesn't do is backup apps, app settings or home screens. So all of the work that you did to customize your phone and customize your setting and customize your apps and Good Lock eyc are lost. Samsung Cloud does that and those exact settings and customizations are in Samsung cloud right now just waiting for me to restore! but now I suddenly can't "restore" my phone to what it was before. Everything now has to be done manually. All over again. Things you spend years tweaking. I can restore these items right now from the Samsung cloud on a Verizon phone. Just not the s24u

Samsung confirms 100% did Samsung cloud was turned off by you. I even saw a brief message when I tried to open the app that it's no longer supported by Verizon. I caught a glimpse of it one time but it was there.

So, as I've said now a dozen times, Samsung cloud was on this very phone last week and the screenshot show that and prove that. Samsung cloud is on another one of my Verizon phones right now and it works perfectly. You say it is Samsung Samsung says it's you and I believe it is you and not them and I believe it has something to do with the esim settings. Because the only thing that changed was you sending me a new esim. Other than that it's the exact same phone from last week that I did a backup into the Samsung cloud from. All of my screenshots prove that. It's undeniable that it works and it exists.

But nobody can explain how suddenly it doesn't work on a phone it worked on 8 days ago and only one thing has changed... The esim. So you can say what you want about not supporting third party apps but I'm reading another places including directly from Samsung telling me plus the message I saw when I tried to open Samsung cloud before it closed it says you stop supporting it in favor of your own cloud app. How else can you explain my existing s24 ultra backup from 8 days ago that is in the cloud and one from an S20+ today that is in Samsung cloud? If this function was deprecated and didn't work then it's pure magic that I have two backups scene in screenshots right here to prove to you that it does work. It is active.. Samsung supports it.

While we're not denying the existence of the Samsung Cloud on your device last week, we want to clarify that we have no options to "turn off or turn on" a third party app. We'd be happy to provide you with basic troubleshooting steps, what troubleshooting steps have you already taken?

We want to make sure you get the app working. In your phone, are you able to go to settings, apps, tap the Samsung Cloud app, and if it shows disabled, are you able to enable the app?

Some updates on this based on messages with Verizon & Samsung.

Fact 1: contrary to what some Verizon reps will tell you Samsung Cloud is not a deprecated app. It's very much updated maintained and supported by Samsung. It wasn't discontinued in 2021.

Fact 2: it's Verizon that is discontinuing it being integrated when activated on their services.

Fact 3: OneDrive cannot do what Samsung cloud does. The real main key critical difference is that it can't backup app settings, phone settings, home screens, phone tweaks. It can backup photos, vids, files. The glory of Samsung Cloud was all of the system backups & 1 click restore - even to a new phone - to make it set up and laid out and function just like the previous phone.

"This Samsung Cloud Service is not available for service any longer on Verizon devices. It can be kept on the phone when it is already on there but is no longer able to be added as new service on current Verizon devices. Including ones returning from Samsung repair that were factory reset."

The point being, people should start to prepare their own backup methods (SD card, SSD drive, Google Cloud, Dropbox, etc) because it appears this integrated Samsung Cloud is coming to an end slowly but surely across Verizon devices. Irrespective of it being an unlocked device or bought from Verizon or even Samsung. If it's activated on Verizon, it appears it will start to disappear for everyone. So be prepared.
