Droid Eris error messages and battery life

I am continuously getting an error message that also goes to whoever texts me.

I have the Droid Eris...this is the message I receive:

Preceding message modified, Media objects were removed.

I have spoken to Verizon support a few times and no one seems to have an answer for me.

One recently said if someone texts me and they have a special character in their signature it can through out an error message. But I have friends that do no have any signature and it happens.

Also it will split the message into 2 messages, saying 1 of 2 or 1 of 3 with the error message.

The battery is only lasting about 5 hours and that is with one or 2 text messages sent and received. I hardly use the other features and have deleted all the things that were downloaded thinking that may be the issue. Does not seem to work at all. My husband has a Blackberry is on it all the time and his battery life is about 4 days. I am thinking this Eris is turning into a bad decision.

I am ready to return the phone and just go with the Blackberry.

check your specs on media texting, you may be exceeding the max pic size or video size allowable for your device, but it could be that your friends are exceeding it as well

the split messages could be due to that verizon will only allow your to send a 160 character text to anyone not on the Verizon network. so if you pass your character limit, it will kick back the message saying that you have used too many characters, yada yada yada, dont do it again. or something like that.

have your tried draining your battery completely (when it automatically shuts itself off, not you turning it off when it tells you that you on the last 15%). drain the battery, charge it until it is fully charged, then let it charge for an additional two hours.

some say that it is not necessary to such a thing, but i do it and i have seen some improvement in battery life. i also disable gps, background data, auto-sync, and use wireless networks in my settings to improve battery life.
