Natasha,
I got a response from a Blink tech. Followed the instructions to change the network to the new Verizon Home Internet Gateway. The procedure failed again. Repeated the process to switch back to my Ruckus R510 AP when a firmware update occurred.
After the update was completed, the Sync 2 module connected to the Ruckus AP.
Started the process again to the Verizon Home Internet Gateway and could see it succeeded, followed by the firmware update (I assume the same version) and the Sync 2 module now works with the VZ gateway. Verified that the Sync 2 module was listed as a connected device via the VZ gateway admin.
This will be good news for the original poster and other customers using Blink Sync modules.
Recommend procedure:
First, unplug the SM and wait 30 seconds.
- For this next step, you will need a pin or paperclip handy. While your SM is unplugged, press and hold down the reset button on the right side of the Sync Module, then plug it back into power without releasing the reset button.
- Continue holding that reset button until you see a flashing red light on the SM.
- Once you've seen the flashing red light, you can release the reset button.
- After resetting the SM, wait patiently (about a minute at the most) for the solid blue light to change back into a solid green blinking blue light pattern. This pattern means the firmware has been reset on the SM, and it is ready to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.
- Tap on the Sync Module icon located at the bottom of the home page in the Blink app, then select the Change Wi-Fi Network option from the list displayed. Or, if your Sync Module has already been deleted from the app, go ahead and try re-adding it to your system.
Note: The firmware update is not mentioned, buy my guess is Blink tested this themselves and made a s/w fix to the Sync module software. The firmware did not update yesterday.

I have spent almost all day on this. Tried changing the W-Fi network on the Blink Sync 2 from different devices. Changed the VZ Gateway setting to 'AON' off to split the SSIDs for 2G and 5G. Sync requires 2G Wi-Fi. The Sync 2 setup fails when trying to access the VZ Gateway. NO success. Switched back to accessing my Ruckus R510 AP and it worked immediately.
If I can't resolve this, I'll have to cancel and return the VZ Gateway. Too bad, everything else seems to work fine.

JimFL13, I'm sorry that Blink Sync 2 device is giving you some trouble. Based on what you shared, everything is connecting sucessfully to the 5G Home router. If that's the case, I'd recommen checking out the Blink support page, to see if they can assist: https://blinkforhome.kustomer.help/contact/support-HJlZ2VBIH

John,
Thanks for your response. I'll follow-up with Blink support tomorrow. I tried the sync setup from a cell phone, and two Fire tablets . The Blink error message says the wi-fi password is incorrect, but it is correct in every case. That's just how the Blink software interprets the error. It looks to me as an authentication issue. Sync uses WPA2 which is OK. The sync 2 Inet status LED goes red when it fails to connect.
The cellphone and Fire tablets can access the VZ gateway using the 2G SSID with no problem.
Will work on it again tomorrow. Evaluated signal quality in every room and outside for the doorbell, Blink cams and Rain Bird controller. Signal quality was Good to Excellent.
