DHCP start address

I now have the latest and greatest? WNC-CR200A modem

The DHCP address range is:

Normal setting

However:

This Puppy is dishing these addresses out

Granted I have not had the time to do the RT*M yet but,

Just wondering if the box is a return from a  previous user, or some ROM device thinks 2 - 153 is dished out or reserved ?

Wondering If I must do the Reset on this puppy and perhaps risk the delicate brain surgery the Tech Gods / Godesses had to do with the EMEI and ICCID to allow this puppy to connect to the Cuckoo's command center.

Any idea's ? Anybody?

ThanX

Unfortunately, your pictures don't show up in the discussion forums. I assume you're wondering why the IP addresses are distributed from a higher range in the IP pool (e.g., 192.168.1.180 gets assigned before 192.168.1.8)?

The short answer is that the hardware vendor for the router, or Verizon, made that decision. The algorithm in the firmware for the DHCP Server running on the router is choosing to allocate from the back half of the subnet first.

There's nothing wrong with assigning IP addresses from anywhere in the range, but I've always thought it was a bit odd whenever an ISP router does this, too.

Yes but...NO!!!

Since DHCP Addressing came about  in the late 80's , early 90's (Wollongong, Netscape, etc + others) Verizon choosing to Push this alternate address assignment on (millions of )clients? PLUS bill higher on monthly charges than the charges indicated on sign-up IS....???? . No this does NOT work. PLUS the GUARANTEE |  PROMISE of 300mb for a set price of one price on WEB sign-up and again, another on billing?  MMM, I don't get past 90...this does not do well for ISP / Customer ISP stated deliverables.

Is there a contact route (EMail or Phone # for VZN Ombudsman?)

Thanks In Advance

I'm just a customer so I don't really have any info to share beyond the technical info that I have. Well, I can also share that I'm familiar with RFC 2131,  and it doesn't have any requirement for which part of the IPv4 subnet to distribute from first.

Good luck!

We hate to see that you have any concerns about the speed and pricing but we definitely want to help. We will be sending over a private note to get additional details.
