I am a UK  citizen and am currently unable to pass the credit check to sign up for 5G Home Internet, despite me having had Comcast account for 20 years!

My question is can I buy my own 5G modem and use a Verizon sim?

If so can anyone reccomend any devices?

I don't know how it works, or if it's possible, but I see Verizon 5G gateways on eBay under $100.  I'd contact a Verizon corporate store and ask:

1. If I buy on my own can you activate it?

2. What do I need to do in buying one to make sure that I won't run into an issue.

I don't know if they blacklist them, if they become account locked, or how it works. My equipment is basically a free lease during the duration of my service. To see them on auction sites makes me think people must have purchased them somehow on their own in the first place.

Alternatively, if the issue is getting the service itself, I might ask Verizon if you can pay a deposit covering a few months service at a time or that covers the cost of the device to them in lieu of a credit check. If they have the money to cover any potential "loss" to them up front, perhaps they'd permit you service without the credit check.

If that all fails, I might look into seeing if you can get Straight Talk's home internet plan. They are a subsidiary of Verizon and my understanding is that they don't require a credit check.

Hello dinesm, thank you for reaching out to us. If you are interested in Verizon 5G Home Internet, we don't charged you for the equipment. You only get charged for the service. You can get more details here: https://www.verizon.com/home/internet/5g/
