Hulu Live - IP address issues

Recently switched to 5G home internet. So far been very happy - with one exception. I’ve been having problems with my Hulu live tv account “thinking” that I am not home and affecting my local and regional channels. I researched and learned that it is due to Verizon using a dynamic IP address. Since Hulu reads the IP address to locate its customer location, this will continue to be an issue. Hulu said the issue is on the Verizon side.
Has any one found a fix for this issue?

Also, it looks like it may be possible to get a static IP address but it may also cost more money. Anyone know of this is available and the related cost?

I had the same issue. Called Hulu and they fixed it for me.

Verizon needs to find a fix to this. I could not get any local channels via Sling TV due to this issue. Now more than once a week I have to contact Hulu support to fix this so I can get local channels as well as my program recordings that I have scheduled. It's more than annoying and I don't want to have to go back to a different ISP, but I'm getting very tired of this issue.

I'm having same issue and super annoying. Hulu gives you 4 resets to make the new IP address your home and after you use those up you have to call Hulu support to reset. First time I called Hulu this was a nightmare to explain but after about 3 times now they have the info in my account I guess because it goes fairly quick, but yes Hulu blames Verizon for changing the IP and apparently Verizon does not offer us a static IP for home internet which I have only read online have not actually called them yet to confirm. Honestly, I think Hulu has the bigger failure on the issue because Netflix allows me to travel with my service as long as I log into the Netflix app on my home internet with my phone before I travel, then log into the app at the new location/ip address with my phone when I get there, then I can use my tv for Netflix at the new location without issue (travel trailer). Seems like a pretty easy fix for Hulu.

Was this ever resolved for any of you? After confirming availability in my area, I was planning on switching over to their Verizon 5G Home Internet. But now I'm concerned with this Hulu issue. Just wondering if this was ever resolved? Thanks in advance!

I would n’t say I got any definitive resolution.
when I posted this original issue, I was having to reset my Hulu home location daily due to the IP address issues.
I then called Verizon and got customer support to ask how often the IP address should be changing. They told me it usually happens when they make updates and that should only be once every 2-3 months. I explained what was happening to me and they said that something was definitely abnormal.

They got their technical team involved and ran some diagnostics - either there was a hardware issue or a software problem. I don’t know what they did but I have not had an issue since then. I have not had to reset my Hulu home location at all since late December or early January. I don’t know how long it will continue this way, but right now I’m satisfied.

Same issues. Got an email from Hulu today with updated user agreement saying you must have a non-mobile internet connection. So that basically means no 5G home internet. Well, I’ll see how long it is before they cancel my Hulu Live. Can’t believe they would want to lose business from every 5G customer. I can certainly understand wanting to stop service theft. But I consider it a technical failure on the part of Hulu to implement an alternative to IP checking. I wouldn’t mind registering all my TVs with them and limiting service to those TVs. You would think Hulu would want to keep up with new technology instead of showing a total failure to do so.

However, I am curious why Verizon hasn’t chimed in on this thread. They will lose considerable business because of this. Shouldn’t they be in negotiations with Hulu to solve the problem for their mutual benefit.

I never received any resolution from Verizon, but I did have a long chat with a Hulu rep and they were VERY helpful.

I don't know what they did, but they had me confirm my IP address at the time and said they made some adjustments and hoped that the location issue wouldn't happen again. Well, I was good for a week, then I got the message that my location changed, I opted to change it back and now it's been over a month without an issue.

Hulu is not holding us to the location change limit with this as a known issue with Verizon 5G. I feel confident that this won't happen frequently going forward but only based on whatever Hulu did on my account.
I wouldn't discourage anyone from going forward with Hulu Live TV after this. Once I addressed it with Hulu, they put measures in place and have been very helpful and willing to work with me and this limitation with Verizon 5G. It was only very annoying in the beginning when I was experiencing the issue more than once a week.

I had this problem this morning. I reset my location and 10 minutes later I got the message again. I called when I got home from work. The representative was very nice and helpful and had me check the IP address and restarted it and I was good to go, but was also told that it was a Verizon issue. I guess if it happens again at some point, I’m either gonna have to decide to keep calling in and having them reset or get rid of Verizon.

I also am having that issue. I am a Verizon 5G customer as well as a Hulu live TV customer. I have had this issue happen three times in the last two weeks. Hopefully Hulu fixed it this time, but they said that we should contact Verizon and have them stop changing the IP address, this is getting really old

This same issue has been happening since I started using Verizon 5G Home Internet. I have to call Verizon 2-3X a month. I go to IP Chicken, give them the address and they reset. The last time they said they have fixed it permanently. Nope. 1 week later, I got the notice and then got another one the next day. It's unacceptable! I'm also having issues with internet access dropping out completely and I have to reboot the router. On top of other issues I'm having with Verizon not honoring a promotion for 5G Home internet - I've lost 3 hours of time tonight on this!!

This has been happening to me for a year now, but I hate to get rid of Verizon 5g bc it’s so affordable! It’s now happening sometimes several times a day where I have to call Hulu. I am thinking of switching to a different tv provider

I have to repeatedly log into my Hulu and Disney+ accounts. The FAQs for this issue say that an unreliable signal may contribute to this problem. And every. single. day. my connection goes down multiple times a day. This is why I left Cox. And it's why I am leaving Verizon 's 5G. I'm done.

i have had the verizon home for about 3 months now and its happening quite a few times. i have to call hulu and do the ipchicken thing. i tried several times with verizon, who we've been with cell service almost 30 years, but just having issues with home internet and hulu. all other streaming works fine. has anyone had a fix with verizon placing a static ip? is youtube live working fine without issues?

I have had to call Hulu three times so far to have them reset my location changes. You get 4 location changes, then get locked out of local and live Hulu. That means that Verizon Home Internet has changed my home IP 12 times since I starting using them 3 months ago. Verizon should really coordinate with Hulu to make an agreement where Verizon customers are not held to a home network as Verizon reroutes traffic due to usage so that Hulu customers are not inconvenienced by Verizon's policy. This problem alone has me considering switching back to my former ISP. When I check my IP location it shows my home network is in Naperville, IL when I live in NE Ohio. I know that at any time it will be changed again and I will be contacting Hulu all over again. Please fix this.

I’ve had the same issue. I’ve used my 4th location change in 2 weeks after switching to Verizon 5 G. It would be nice if Verizon and Hulu could work together to fix the for their shared customers instead of making their technical problems their customers problems.

We're sorry about the issue you're having with the location on your Hulu Live service. As a Hulu Live TV user, I was able to fix this issue by contacting Hulu support so they could set up the location for me. I never had the issue with location after that. ~Peter

Unfortunately, while hulu support is super helpful and fixes it asap, I've had to call or chat 3x in 2 weeks despite them manually tagging my IP addresses as my address on the account. It's come back even though they've done that on hulu side. Verizon needs to set a static IP option please!!

It's also tagging me as in arizona, not even the right state.
