I moved from my apartment to my parents house & my Roku isn't maintaining a WiFi connection. Roku tells me that the signal is poor, probably because of the distance between the Roku & the router. The WiFi signal has to go thru wood & drywall. My smartphone also tells me the same thing & sometimes my new TV buffers.
I considered getting a router of my own, but, based on what I've read online, getting the new router connected to the ONT is complicated & I'm not network savvy. An electrician would have to run an Ethernet or a coax cable from the ONT to the "apartment". I suppose that he'd have to go up into the attic. It would cost me a literal fortune. I read online about WiFi extenders. I've looked at the Verizon manuals online & it appears to be a simple process. Just put the extender next to the Verizon router & pair them & then unplug the extender & plug it into an outlet in my "apartment". I assume that the SSID is the same so it shouldn't be difficult to get my Roku working, correct?
Can I use any extender?
Do I have the right idea?
