Over the past few months around the Kettering, Ohio area 5G access has been spotty. My 5G access use to consistent, but over the passed 2 months it has been pretty none existent. Is there a issue with the 5G and 5G UW signals?

I'm sorry to hear you are having a problem with your service, VMember. Let's look into this together. What zip code are you in? Was this inside or outside? Are you able to use the device at all for data services there? -Joe

Thanks!

@VMember1971, I don't believe this is a problem with your phone, it's on Verizon.  The 5G network is actually rather small and with increased data usage by everyone in recent years, the towers aren't able to keep up.  Several members including myself have posted about this in other threads where we have all lost consistent 5G access in recent months, so you are not alone.  I have had better luck recently with getting 5G at work and sometimes if I drive to some other locations in the city, my 5G light does come on, but it's a hit or miss thing until Verizon upgrades their towers or adds more.

What you described is pretty much what I have been experiencing. I could be out driving and get burst of 5G or UW but the service isn't consistently available. Did a speed test today on LTE download 60Mbps and upload 7Mbps. I ran a second test when my phone connected 5G UW download 204Mbps, upload 13Mbps but the speed was short lived.

Someone posted elsewhere they saw something on Reddit implying that the 5G network is being worked on (?) but as I did not see the Reddit post myself, can't confirm.  But it does seem that towers are slowly being upgraded, as I've found a sweet spot for 5G access in my neighborhood which used to get about 50Mbps down on 5G, but I've gotten much better speeds in this location as of this month.  Just this morning my speed test came back at 188Mbps down on 5G, and I'm a prepaid customer who isn't eligible for 5G UW access!  Thank you Verizon!  (Can you upgrade some more towers so we can get some more? OK, OK, I know I'm getting what I pay for so can't expect 5G all the time on the cheap plan, but I'm sure the postpaid customers will greatly appreciate it. ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Hang in there if your service is otherwise good.  Had to chuckle when I looked in my mailbox today because a certain competitor keeps sending me ads to switch over - methinks they're scared.  All the carriers must surely be keeping tabs on how they are performing in whatever location...

VMember1971, I didn't find any current alerts for that area. I'm going to send you a PM so we can see what's going on, and get into some more details.
