Pre-Paid SIM and Porting Number will not activate

I am porting my number and using my own phone into a Verizon prepaid plan. I received and installed the SIM. The envelope states to activate online, but I can't login. A Verizon account requires an active number, as far as I can tell.
I tried calling Verizon support but can't get through to any department because it requires an active Verizon phone number.
I was able to communicate with Verizon Chat from the website, but I was transferred from tier 1 to another support rep. Bounced around to several other reps. 2 hours later I gave up.
So my card won't activate, I can't talk to Verizon support, the instructions that came with card are useless without an active number.
I have already paid 70.00 for the service....so what do I do?

Its now been 84 hours. I need my phone to activate today, it was an emergency 12 hours ago. This appears to be the only method of communication to Verizon since I don't have an activated number. I can't call or live chat without signing in. this is kind of ridiculous.

Thanks I just sent a private message to the first chat rep that replied.
Thanks, I wasn't aware that support existed via Facebook and twitter. I don't use social media.

A very helpful and knowledgeable representative in this chat pointed me to a contact number.
Thank you to all who replied, I sincerely appreciate it.
However, after successfully reaching out to Verizon via phone support to solve this activation problem, it spiraled into rabbit hole of incorrect information, lost calls, bouncing from one incorrect department to another, and another, and more wrong information and more lost calls with no call back, promises that it would activate at a certain time, etc.
Days later, I finally got in touch with someone who could give me the data that I needed. and assist with activation. This resulted in a temporary number that would eventually enable my ported number, and it actually worked.
This was infuriating on several levels. I needed my phone number, I have a family life and a busy work schedule, just like everyone else.
Earlier today I had some questions about international calling. I've already had 3 different agents give me different information regarding the same question, and 1 other agent tells me my number isn't eligible for international calling. 2 hours later I don't know who to believe and I don't care.
I'm upset and I'm venting a little, I get that. But I'm done. Activation should be an automated process with redundancy and fail-safes in place. Verizon has been porting and activating numbers daily, for a long time. This was just one number I wanted to port into Verizon. I can't take a month out of my life to port the rest of my family numbers.
I'm now looking for a 70.00 refund and porting the number back to my old provider.
