Activating An Old Phone Without Another Phone Number?

Hello,

I received a new phone today.  I went through the steps in activating it and transferring my phone number to it.  When I finished transferring from an old phone to a new phone, I did a factory reset on the old phone to clear off my data and use it in a clean state.

However, I didn't realize that I need to activate the old phone again.  I never really had this issue in the past, so this is new to me.

My question is:  Is it possible to activate my old phone WITHOUT a new line?

I don't need a new phone number on it, and I don't need to transfer my phone number back to it..  I would like to activate it to use it like a small tablet.  In other words, I don't need a second line, as I wouldn't be using it like an actual phone.  I wanted to ask here before I would try using the chat option to try to activate it.

Oh, and I tried looking for an answer previously to posting this, and couldn't find anything I was looking for.

Thank you for your time.

Hey there, Shelly12345, you can certainly reactivate your phone in order to use it without service or while connected to WiFi. In order to get past activation, you will need to reactivate the phone on your number temporarily. This can be completed in My Verizon here: http://vz.to/2lJAzVt. After your previous phone is reactivated and you are past the setup, you can then activate your new phone again.

Thanks Lauren, I appreciate your answer!  I won't do it right away, but I'll keep this in mind in the near future if I ever need to.  🙂
