Google Talk Authentication Error every 10 minutes

I am getting a Google Talk Authentication Error every 10 minutes. I don't have a Google Talk account, and never even tried to use the app, which came pre-installed and cannot be deleted, on my Samsung Fascinate. I started receiving the error almost immediately after activating the phone. I tried logging in to it on my phone after the errors started, but it just hangs on the Logging In screen. I let it try for 30 minutes and it never gave me any other options, just keeps trying to log in. Anybody have any ideas on how to stop this from popping up every 10 minutes?

Do you have a Google/Gmail account set up in the phone?

You need one to access the Android Market and for the Google Talk applications as well as others on the phone.

I had the exact same experience with a device I once has with Google Talk pre-installed. There are two to resolve this issue. The first way, which worked for me, is to create a Google Talk account and log in on the device. Once I was logged in, I immediately logged out and the authentication error stopped showing on my device. If you do not have a Google Talk account then you can create one just for this purpose or use a friend's account to resolve the authentication error message.

Another option is to do a factory reset on the device. This solution does erase all information from the device. If you decide to take this route then I recommend backing up your contacts and calendar entries on your Gmail account prior to doing so. Backup Assistant is another a great option for archiving contacts. Also, it would be best to move all pictures, videos, and music to the memory card and remove it from the device so it won't be effected. Once the factory reset has been completed, there is a tutorial on the device that will walk through the activation and setup process on the device. Contacts and calendar entries can easily be restored by using Backup Assistant and/or your Gmail account. Once you have the device activated and setup, verify if you are still getting the authentication error message. If so then please reply to this post for additional assistance.
